12 Ths Newi-Review, Roieburg, Fund Figuring Formula Found This is what miaht be called a do-it-yourself article. The project is to find out how much vou're going to have to pay in property taxes this year, for tools you'll need a piece of paper, a pencil with an eraser, and a good deal of patience. Ready? Let's go. Step 1. Find out the true cash value of your personal property. (If vou don't know the Douglas Couiily assessor's office can tell you i. Slep 2. Multiply the true cash value figure bv .22. (.22 represent 22 per cent of the true cash value of your property which is called the assessed valuation, the figure on which vour tax is based). Step 3. Find out what your total millaue levy is and translate thii into a percentage figure by placing a .0 in front of the millage fit lire. (1 mill equal MO of 1 cent. Therefore JO mills would equal 1 cent or 1 per cent of a dollar. Thus a levy of 72.2 mills would be 7.22 per cent on the assessed val uation of your property. To multi ply correctly in step 4, this would be written as .722). Step 4. Multiply your as-sensed valuation bv vour millage levy. Step 5. Move your decimal point three places to the left in the an swer you got in step 4 and if the last number in your answer is 5 or more increase the figure direct ly next to it by 1. Step 6.
