Mays and the four went on a trip to Diamond Lake to fish. Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Deller and Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Monger made a trip to Salem last week to at tend a meeting. David Jackson has returned to Hampton, Ore., following several days here visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elton Jackson. Elmer R. Motzgor, Douglas coun ty commissioner, is presently on a two week vacation. He is expected back in his office on Aug. 1. Miss Markay Jaan Balfour left Sunday for her home in Eugene alter a two-week visit here at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Andrus. Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Horan of St. Louis, Mo. have been in Rose burg as houseguests of the for mer's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Robinson. The Horans and Robinsons have taken a number of sight seeking trips in Oregon during th8 last couple of weeks. Member! of the Knights of Pyth ias and Pythian Sisters, their fam ilies and friends are invited to at tend the annual picnic Sunday at L'mpqua Park. Food will be serv ed at 3:30 p.m. Coffee and cold drinks will be furnished and those attending are to bring their own table service and a picnic lunch. David Luther Sylwester has been graduated from Indiana University with an M. A. degree in mathemat ics. He is the son of the Rev, and Mrs. W. A. Sylwester, who left Koseburg recently to reside in Ev erett, Wash. Prior to entering In diana University, David obtained .his A. B. degree from the Univer sity of Oregon. He is a graduate of Roseburg High School. Mrs. W. E. Jones and daughter, Linda, and son, Jeff, and their houseguesl, Patscy Bowen, drove to the coast over the weekend, stop ping at Tsiltcoos to pick up the Jones' son, Gordon, who had spent the past week at Boy Scout Camp. At Myrtle Point they visited Mrs. Jones' brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bowen. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Hahn are now at home on Estclle Avenue following their honeymoon trip to Victoria, B.C., Mt. Rainier, Seattle and other points in Washington. Mrs. Hahn, the former Rain a Chapman, is completing her course this month at the Roseburg Beauty School. Mr. Hahn is back at his work with Roseburg Lumber Co. Doyls Pressnell, who taught in the Riverside, Calif., school sys tem this last year, has arrived here to visit his brolhcr-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hcrriott, and family. Pressnell formerly taught in the Roseburg School Sys tem, before spending a year in Honolulu and then going to River side. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Harding, who are spending the summer here from Tucson, Ariz., and the lat ter's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. Ernest Butler, ac companied by Miss Helen Casey, left today for Portland to spend a few days attending, to business and visiting. Miss Casey will visit her aunt, Miss Rosa B. Parrotl, at Willamette Manor. Mrs. Don Hagedorn and daugh ters, Jennie and Lauri, returned home Sunday after a visit in Leb anon with Mrs. Hagedorn's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph York. She also spent some time with her husband's mother, Mrs. L. W. Hag edorn, in Salem. Don went up over "the weekend to bring his family home. Mrs. Ilao Stephens was a recent guest of Mr. and Mrs. Les Child at their home in Grants Pass and also accompanied them to Cra ter Lake. Saturday night, M r s. Stephens, as the guest of the Childs, spent Saturday night at the new Village Green Motel in Cot tage Grove where they occupied the governo s suite. Mr. and Mrs. Harris Ellsworth of Roseburg visited at Seaside last weekend attending the conven tion of the Oregon Newspaper Pub lishers Assn. Mr. Lllsworlh is a former president of the organiza tion. An ex-congressman, he now is serving as a broker handling newspaper and radio properties. Douglas. County Republican can didate to the Oregon Legislature senate, Elton Jackson and Mrs. Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Lo mex, of this city, and Jess Lomax of Phoenix, Ariz., spent the week end at the new Village Green at Cottage Grove and then went on to Winchester Bay for the Salmon Derby. Jess Lomax is the father of Virgil Lomax. Mr, and Mrs. Frank Brundige and daughter, Debbie, and Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Dage spent the week end at Lemolo Lake. Doyle and daughter, Holly, made the trip to Elkton Tuesday to attend the wed ding of Doyle'a niece, Mary Alice Bunch. Robert E. Kischel, Douglas Coun ty Land Agent, and his family are on a week's vacation. The family was planning on touring southern Oregon. The Rev. and Mrs. John Adams and sons, John, Steve and David, returned Tuesday from a two day stay in Medford, where the former attended a Presbyterian district meeting for men. Mrs. Walter Bain of Oak Park, 111., has left for Palo Alto, Calif., to visit her daughter, Mrs. Eva Ruth Miller, and family. M r . Bain, the former Katherine Waite of this city, recently gave the Gov ernor Lane residence here to the Douglas County Historical Society. Deller, plans to leave Aug. 14 for Japan, where she will teach American Air Force children during the coming school year. Miss Deller taught last year in the Oregon City School System. Dr. Clifford Babbitt went to San Francisco over the weekend to meet his wife aid children, Jen nifer and Kevin, vho have been vacationing in Los Angeles with Mrs. Babbitt's brother-in-law and sister. The Babbitts' elder son, Bruce, is spending six weeks in Evanston, 111., attending Northwest ern University School of Journalism on a scholarship he won this last year.
