The organization failed to secure the required 33.712 signatures needed to place an initiative re peal measure on the November election ballot. Kennedy of Massachusetts as the Democratic presidential nominee. Abby Mow Mere Tropical Storm MIAMI. Kla. (AP) Hurricane Ahhy was demoted to a tropical storm today. Its winds dwindled lo 60 miles an hour 15 miles below hurricane strength and it picked up for ward speed as it headed due west through the Caribbean. At 11 a.m. Abhy was 225 miles south-southwest of Kingston, Ja maica, and about 800 miles south of Miami. Its peak winds were confined to few sciualls near its center. Winds between 3.) and 45 miles an hour extended 100 miles to the north and about 30 miles to the south.
