placed first in the yearbook division at the international
convention in Phoenix, Aril. This climaxed on award re
ceived earlier this yeor at the state convention in Eugene.

Outdoor Party Given
' The home of James Bylcs at
Fair Oaks was the scene o( a large
outdoor party recently for children
of the Fair Oaks area. Forty guests
including children and their par
ents were present for the potluck
picnic, served at large tables act
in the Bylcs' yard.
Following the picnic dinner,
games and visiting were enjoyed.

A beautiful pink and white cake
was decorated by Mrs. Bill Schell.

hearts topping the cake, which pro
vided an appropriate centerpiece

Lovely Ceremony
s Event Of June
A very beautiful wedding uniting Diana Dancer, the bride's nieces.
Miss Maxine Dancer, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dancer, and
Ray Looney, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Gay Looney, all of Camas Valley,
was solmonized on June 25th, in
the presence of 160 guests in the
very lovely garden at the Dancer
home in Upper Camas Valley.
The double Ting marriage cere
mony, performed by Elder Jasper
Giberson of the Reorganized Latter
Day Saints Church of Bridge, was
conducted under an improvized
arch centered with a series of
white wedding bells tied with white
satin ribbon, and covered with
mock orange blossoms, pinK roses
and greenery. The arch was flank
ed on each side with largo basket
arrangements of mock orange, ma
donna lilies and pink loses,
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, was very beautiful in
a white silk chiffon over taffeta
wedding dress with elbow length
sleeves, boat neck lino extending
into a deep V in back and accent
ed with a bow. Her waist length
over the face veil was held in
place with a pearl tiara. She car
ried a nosegay of bridal roses cen
tered with a large lavender orchid,
and white satin ribbon streamers.
She "borrowed" a slip from her
sister Judy, and the traditional
"blue" garter was worn.
Maid of honor for the bride was
Miss I.eAnn Moody. Bridesmaids
were Miss Judy Dancer, sister of
the bride, and Mrs. Byron Baker.
The three bridal attendants were
dressed identically in turquoise blue
taffeta, white net off the face hats
and white accessories. They car
ried nosegays of Esther need dais
ies surrounding pink sweet Wil
liams. Their only ornaments were
very beautiful pins, a gift of the
bride, and worn on the side of the
dress neckline.

They were dressed in pink polished
cotton dresses, white accessories
and carried white baskets contain
ing pink rose petals.
The bridegroom's attendants
were best man, Byron Baker; Ray
mond Dancer, brother of the bride,
and Ernest Bilger. Ushers were
Stece Looney, brother of the bride
groom and Jim Horner, nephew
of the bride.
The bride's mother wore an after
noon dress of blue and white orlon,
blue hat. whice accessories and a
'blue orchid pin in net corsage. The
bridegroom s mother wore a green
plaid dress, white accessories and
a lavender orchid pin in net corsage.
Mrs. Russell Harwood played in
cidental music while the guests
were assembling and accompanied
Mrs. Ted Heilman and Mrs. George
Todd who sang "Oh Promise Me."
Mrs. Harwood also played the wed
ding march for the bridal party.
The guest book was presented by
Linda Horner and Karen Dancer,
nieces ot the pride. Assisting at
the gift table were Mary White
and Connie Kellum.
The serving tables were covered
with lace cloths, and the bride's
table held the tiered wedding cake,
flanked on cither side with tall
pink tapers, surrounded with green
net and pink rosebuds. The coffee
table was centered with an ar
rangement of oink sweet peas, and
it too had the tall tapers surround
ed with net and roseouds. follow
ing tha first cut made by the bride
and bridegroom, the cake was
served by Mrs. Joe Griffin, aunt
of the bride, and Mrs. Norman
Lewellyn, aunt of the bridegroom.

John Looney served coffee and
punch.
The members of the Camas Val
ley Methodist Church WSCS aided
the decorations ana serving.
Mrs. Nobel Standley and Mrs. Al
len Cooper decorated the archway
and Mrs. Charles Crouch made the
corsages worn by those assisting.
For her going away costume the
new Mrs. Looney wore a light gray
tweed suit white blouse and ac
cessories and the orchid from her
wedding bouquet. The couple spent
their honeymoon visiting in Idaho,
Nevada and California. They are
now at home in Tiller, where both
are employed by the U. S. F'orcst
Service.
Ray Looney was a graduate of
Ihe Camas Valley High School with
the class of 1958, and Mrs. Looney
was co valedictorian of this
spring s graduating class of the
Camas Valley High School.
Miss Moody caught the bridal
bouquet after it had been tossed
by the bride.

At Eugene Chapel
Mrs. O. A. Johnson of Roseburg
has announced the marriage of her
daughter Susan A. Abendschein, of
Minneapolis, Minn., to Raymond
D. Erickson, son of Nels Erick
son, also of Minneapolis.
The afternoon Ceremony was held
in the Chapel of Central Lutheran
Church in Eugene on May 29.
The Rev. Anderson performed the
ceremony at 4 o'clock in the pres
ence of close friends and relatives.
Following the ceremony a dinner
was enjoyed by the couple and
guests at the Del Ray Cafe in
Eugene. After the honeymoon trip
to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe
Mr. and Mrs. Erickson are now at I
home in Minneapolis, where he is
employed as a comptroller for La- i
Maur, Inc. She is a secretary for !
the same company. She attended
North Dakota State Science School I
and the bridegroom attended
Flagsburg College in Minneapolis.

Friendship Club
Makes Summer Plans
The Friendship Club of the
Mountaineer Rebekah Lodge in
Glendale met in tho 10OF Hall
Tuesday evening. Plans were made
for holding the annual Odd Fel
lows and Rebekah picnic at the
Grants Pass City Park July 31.
It was planned that the next
meeting will be a potluck picnic
at the home of Mrs. George Mill.
Members are to invjte their hus
bands to be guests.
Under good of the order, Mrs.
Fred Kafcr and Mrs. Steve Sutch
directed an amusing game.
After the meeting, Mrs. Curtice
Daniels, Mrs. Rodney Swanson and
Mrs. Ed Coate served refresh

one guest, Mrs. Kenneth Brady,
who were present.
Anniversary Dinner
Honors The D. H. Kellys
Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Kelly of
Roseburg were recently honored on
the occasion of their 40th wedding
anniversary when a family dinner
party was arranged at the Rice
Bowl. Their two daughters were
hostesses for the affair. The group
later visited and enjoyed a social
evening at the Kelly home.

The bride, given in marriage by

ivory satin dress with Brazilian
lace bodice and chapel train. She
carried a cascade 'bouquet of white
and red roses surrounding a white
orchid

Hays, of Beaverton. The brides
maid was Margaret Himes of Kirk
land, Wash. She wore white and
carried a matching bouquet.

Reunion Slated
The Roseburg High School class
of 1950 will hold its 10-year re
union Saturday, July 23, at the
Roseburg Country Club. The buffet
dinner at 7:30 p.m.will be preced
ed by a social hour at 6:30. Reser
vations should be in by July 18 and

Sacramento, Calif., were married
here Saturday, July 2, at the home
of the bridegroom's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Al H. May, on Fisher
Road. The ceremony at 12 o'clock
noon was performed by Dr. N.

used.
The bride was beautiful in a pale
pink sheath dress trimmed with
small appliqued roses centered
with jeweled buttons. She wore a

Pray," was sung by Mrs. Eugene
Gerhtz and Mrs. Esther Gilliland
accompanied on the piano by Mrs.
Clarence Mobley. Mrs. Rov Knigge
presented a Llni on Mather School.
A business meeting was conducted
