Goldfine Ordered . To Serve Sentence BOSTO (AP) - Boston indus trialist Bernard Guldfine, 69, lo usy was ordered to begin serving immediately a three-month jail sentence tor contempt of court. His secretary, Miss Mildred Pa perman. 42, also was .ordered to htgin serving a luday sentence tor a similar offense. Both were refused complete re duction or suspension of sentence by l.S. Dist. Judge Charles E. Wyzanski Jr. Ooldnne will serve his sentence at the federal penitentiary in Dan bury, Conn , and Miss Paperman in Hie Middlesex county jail, Cambridge, Mass. Goldfine and Miss Paperman were sentenced for failure to turn over certain books and records of Goldfine enterprises during an in come tax investigation. Alter failing to win a reduction of sentence, Goldfine's attorneys had sought suspension of sentence on the argument the millionaire industrialist and his secretary are scheduled to stand federal trial Oct. 3 on charges of income tax evasion. Sentences followed a refusal by the U.S. Supreme Court to act on their contempt of court appeals. Goldfine was accused in a con cessional committee investiga tion last year of presenting gifts to persons of influence, including Sherman Adams, former chief aide of President Eisenhower. Elliott, one of th.i original flag-raisers, in a repeat performance, the new 50-star U S flag has been hoisted atop Mount Nebo. It replaces the 49-star flag which had been aloil since the admis sion of Alaska, and, of course, it took on the added five-pointer be cause of the addition of. Hawaii this year. The flag flies on property do nated to the Roseburg Klks Lodge No. 326 by Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Fullerton. In the mid-twenties the Federal Aviation Agency requested per mission to build a beacon on the properly. It was granted by the Elks for a 51 per year token con sideration. The flag of the United States ha! flown continuously since its first hoisting in 1319. As stated, Archie Elliott, long-time Elk and one of the original flag-raisers, was prom inent again in the flag-raising. Th-; event coincided with Mr. and Mrs. Elliott's 4uth wedding anniversary. The flags used on Mount Nebo are made of nvlon and measii 10 by by 15 feet. They usually last luur iu six momns. Knife Wounds Fatal To Portland Marine OCEANSIDE, Calif. (AP) Po lice said Aristo G. Torres, 18, has admitted fatally stabbing a Ma rine. Officers quoted Torres Monday as saying he and several compan ions were out to get Pvt. Dennis Virgil Parker, 21, of Portland, Ore., because the latter and a friend had tried to pick up the suspect's girl friend. Parker was attacked when he pulled his convertible to a stop sign shortly before midnight Sat urday, police said. Raymond S. Meyer, a Marine who was with Parker, said half a dozen youths swarmed over the auto. Parker got out to defend him self and was stabbed, Meyer said. Knifed seven times in the side, back and elbow.
