A business meeting followed the picnic with Mrs. Hedden, presi dent, in charge. Plans were made for the coming Douglas County Fair. Tables were colorful with centerpieces of pineapples and tropical fruits. Pro gram covers portrayed a beach and palm tree silhouette. Using a symbolic chain of Ieis, Mrs. Jerry lyons, installing officer, stressed the importance of main taining a strong chain of official leadership to promote high Toast mistress standards. Those accept ing responsibilities as new officer? ot the Roseburg Club are Mrs. t. R. Lesher, president; Mrs. Gene Cooksev. vice president; Mrs. Rich. ard Stark, secretary; Mrs. Ted Smalle, treasurer; and Mrs. Henry Rockwell, club representative. Winston-Dillard Club officers include Mrs. Harry VanDermark, presi dent; Mrs. Robert I,eck, vice presi dent; Mrs. Ray Talbert, Secretary: Mrs. Don Weinberg, treasurer, and Mrs. Ned Wagner, i lub representa tive. Mrs. Lesher, of the hostess club of Roseburg, introduced table top ics in which participating mem bers spoke on their initial reaction to a few chosen pictures. M r s. Wagner, toastmistress, introduced the program speakers using the various meanings of the Hawaiian salutation "Aloha." The humorous program included a reading by Mrs. Cooksey; and "icebreaker by Mrs. Alfred Daniels; reading by Mrs. Ed Pittsley, and a talk on how to get Toastmistress member by Mrs. Weinberg, ho wore a ho- lokeu gown. Others participating in the pro gram were Lois Rothrock, Mrs. Robert Golden and Mrs. Talbert. The newly - installed presidents were given president's pins and responded with acceptance speech es. A past president's pin was pre sented to Mrs. Golden by Mrs. Pittsley. A first lime award was made to the Roseburg member who contributed the most effort to her club's activities. This gold cup was presented to Mrs, Rockwell by Mrs. Lesher. Dinner guests for the meeting were Mrs. Thomas Golden, Van couver, Wash.; Mrj. Carl Brady and Mrs. Ivan Benton. Over one hundred friends at tended the open house June 12, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hick- man of Glide on their 35th wed ding anniversary. The affair held in the Hickman's beautiful garden was hosted by the Hickman's chil dren; Mrs. Ernie l Dorothy Sarns of Portland; .Mrs. Juan (Mildred) Schwendener of Ashland; Mrs. Raymond (Marjorie) Fox of Rose burg, and Ralph Hickman of Glide. Two sons, Douglas Hickman now with the C. S. Army in Korea, and Robert Hickman of Madras were unable to attend. Mrs. Hickman wore a black and white coin print chiffon frock with a white orchid corsage. The Hick mans have resided in Glide twenty five years. The honorees received many lovely gifts and cards. The serving table was covered by a lace cloth over pink and cen tered with a floral arrangement of pink carnations and snapdragons. The three-tiered beautifully dec-i orated wedding cake was served by Mrs. George Casebeer and Mrs. Vern Shrum after Mr. and Mrs. Hickman had cut the traditional first piece. Mrs. Ernie Sarns poured tbe coffee. Mrs. Raymond Fox served tea and Mrs. Ray Ballou scrwd the punch. Mrs. Juan Schwenrten- er was in charge of the guest book. WELDON FLETCHER, obove, son of Dr. and Mrs'. M. D. Fletcher, of Winsron, was graduared frtwn Kansas City College of Osteopathy and Surgery at Kansas City, Mo. this month. His porents went back for the ceremony. Dr. Fletcher went to Virginia to take o board examination and then drove to Winston to visit with his parents until July 15, when he will go to Sacramento, Calif, to intern at the Medical Center for a year.
