SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP)A Wis
consin supporter of Sen. Hubert
F. Humphrey said today that if
Humphrey's name is not placed
in nomination for president at the
Democratic national convention,
he and at least four other state
delegates will vote for Sen. John
F. Kennedy on the first ballot.
State Sen. Carl F. Lauri of
Superior added that if the Minne
sota senator is nominated, the five
delegates from Wisconsin's 10th
Congressional District repre
senting 2Vi votes would be obli
gated to cast their initial vote for
him, v
Kennedy won 20 votes in the
Wisconsin presidential primary,
Humphrey 10. .

have returned from a trip to Port

ton and friends in Portland, then
travelled to Prescott where they
visited the 'Walter Furer family
and then to Rainier, where they
were guests of Hanson's brother

Visitors of the Rov Hatfields re
cently were Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Hatfield of Cloverdale. They also
visited the Joe Brumbachs and
other relatives in the area. They
have come for the family reunion
which will be held bunday.
Mrs. Claude Short, accompanied
by her daughter, Mrs. Marjorie
Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Bush of San
ta Rosa, Calif., were recent vis
itors in Roseburg at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Mack Pyle on SE
Kane Street. Pyle is a nephew of
Mr. and Mrs. Bush.
Mrs. E. S. Hall and Mrs. Joseph
Marsters are expected home to
day after spending a few days in
Medtord visiting meir Droiner-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. E.
G. Randolph, and Mrs. Hall's son,
Stephen, who is employed there.
Paul Forrest, who suffered a
badly infected foot and has been
a patient at Mercy Hospital, is
now convalescing at his home on
SE Kane Street. He is the young
est son of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. For

Heather McTaggart left Sunday
for Seaside where they attended
the Fire Chief convention. They
went on the Port Angeles, Wash.,
where Kirby, of the Volunteer
Dept. of Roseburg, represented
Oregon at the Washington Volun
teer Firemen's convention. The
Kirby's daughter, Mardcllc, Is at
tending 4-H summer school at Cor
vallis. Arriving today for the wedding

Lt. (jg) Bruce Michels are Dr. and
Mrs, W. G. Homan and Mr. and
Mrs. Hal Higgs, all of Portland;
Mrs. Frank Underwood and Miss

of Riley H. Allen, editor and vice
president of the Honolulu Star
Bulletin, and Paul L. Mclllreo,
vice president and operations and
finance head of the paper, to be
trustees of the late Joseph Farring
ton estate. Riley Allen went to
Honolulu in 1905 as a reporter for
the Honolulu Evening Bulletin. He
became editor of the Honolulu Star
Bulletin when it was founded in
1912 and had seen the paper grow
from 4,000 circulation to 106.000
daily. Mclllreo is a cousin of Hal
Schiltz, owner of the Myrtle Creek
Mail. He joined the Star-Bulletin in
1914 and in 1917 became head of
the finance and is also president ot
the Honolulu Lithograph Co. The
Star-Bulletin staff worked many
years toward statehood for the
Hawaiian Islands.

feldt and children of Sacramento,
Calif., were recent guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Roy Hatfield. Mrs. New
feldt is a niece of Roy Hatfield
and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Warren Cloake of Cloake's Ferry,

turned to their home in Roseburg
Tuesday, following a '10-day vaca
tion trip to Honolulu, where they
stayed at Hawaiian Village. They
made the trip over by Northwest
Orient Airways and returned by
fan American Jet. Tney were held
over in Honolulu an extra night
by Pan American Airways and
were guests at the Royal Hawaiian
Hotel. While in Honolulu the Mon
gers made sight seeing tours of
the island to Oahu and enjoyed
seeing a number of friends.
Alastair Pullar of Sterlingshire,
Scotland, exchange student to Law
renceville, N.J. from the British
lies, left Roseburg Wednesday for
Los Angeles to join Joe Dimaggio
Jr. and other friends, before con
tinuing on to New Orleans and
the East coast to sail in August
for his home, where he will con
tinue his education. He has been
the guest here of Mr. and Mrsi
Kenneth W. Ford, and son, -Allyn.
He was a cum laude student at
Lawrenceville, where Allyn was
also a cum laude student. During
his week here as guests of the Ford
family, he enjoyed a trip to Crater
Lake and went through the Rose
burg Lumber Co. plant oeprations.
Sunday he attended the silver wed
ding anniversary celebration of the
Fords at the Harry Wesley home
in Garden Valley.
