Bailey's Of Dixonyille To Embark On African Safari By JEAN RADCLIFFE Mrs. William Bailey o Dixon ville' and " daughter-in-law, Mrs Charles Bailey, will leave for New York Thursday by plane. .They will then fly to. London, en route to Nairobi Kenya, Africa, to meet their husbands, who left for Africa earlier this spring. The group plans to fly back to Roseburg around the first of August. Family Tour Mexico Mr. and Mrs. Dale Haley and daughter, Lynelte have returned from a 10-day vacation trip in Cali fornia. They drove to San Diego where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ohlcr. They also went on to Mexico and spent some time in Caliente and did some shopping in Tiajuana. En route home they stopped at Disneyland and toured Knotts Berry Farm. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Smith and granddaughters, of Camas, Wasn., have arrived for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Melton and other relatives in the community. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Collins of Livingston, Mont., were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Green and family last week. . Mrs. Leah Stevens of Portland is visiting her sisters, Mrs. William Bailey and Mrs. Harlan Melton. A visitor last week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Belle was Mrs. Gladys Parsow, foreign mis sionary. Mrs. Parsow is a former Roseburg resident. Oregon Demos Set Park Conference PORTLAND (AP) - The Ore gon Democratic Party will hold a park and recreation conference at Bend July 30. State chairman Robert W. Straub said the party hopes to stimulate support for improved park and recreation facilities. Major recreation and outdoor groups will be asked to take part in the conference. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Davis and five children of San Mateo, Calif., are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Allenby. Boy BUIti Portland ' Phillip Hansen spent the past week in Portland, as guest of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs, Har old Hansen. . Mr. and Mrs. Harris Nye have returned from a trip to California. They were a guest of Mrs. Nye's niece, Mrs. Vivian McNeil, in Napa, and visited her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Pinney, in Sebastopol. At Santa Rosa they visited Nye's brothei and sister-in-law, Mr, and Mrs, A. W.- Nye. Mr. and Mrs. Brad Mills and daughter, Sara, spent the weekend in Eugene, as guests of Mills' par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mills. April Hansen has accepted em ployment with Roseburg Jewelers. April is a Glide High graduate. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pyle drove to Springfield recently, where they were guests of Mr. ' and Mrs. Alvie Moss. . OSC Professors Receive Science Faculty Grants ; CORVALLIS (AP)-Two Oregon state College professors have re ceived National Science Founda tion faculty grants for advanced study next year. - Charles Wicks, associate profes sor of chemical engineering, will do advanced work at the Univer sity of Wisconsin, and Leonard J. Lappnow has accepted a position as instructor in the arts department the Sutherlin High School for ' the coming year. Summer Visitor - Arrives Robert Fancher of Columbus, Ohio, has arrived to spend the summer with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Marsh. He is the son of Rev. and ilrs. Marshall Fancher. Mrs. Fancher is the former Helen Wooden who was a teacher for several years in the Lookingglass High School and made her home with the Marshes. Mrs. Fancher has been confined to her home for several weeks with a recurring at tack of phlebitis. She is reported to be improving at this time. Thur., June 23, 1960 The News-Review, Roseburg, Ore. 13 Accident Injuries Take Life Of Jefferson JP SALEM (AP) - Max Schulz, 59, justice of the peace at Jeffer son nearly two years, died in a Stayton hospital Tuesday of auto mobile accident injuries. 1 State police said his automobile skidded on wet pavement three miles east of Mehama on the North Santiam Highway Sunday and plummeted into a ditch. His wife, Lillian, 59, is in the Stayton hospital with chest in juries. She is in fair condition.
