Senate Committee Watching For Rackets In Title Fight WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate investigators said today they are watching for any moves by racke teers to cash in on the Johansson Patterson heavyweight champ ionship bout next Monday. Sen. Estes Kefauver (D-Tenn) told a reporter he had authorized this scrutiny. Kefauver heads the Senate An titrust and Monopoly subcommit tee now investigating underworld influence in professional boxing. Two days of public hearings which ended Wednesday concluded the first phase of the study. Rand Dixon, the subcommittee's chief counsel, charged that boxing is "rotten from top to bottom" and needs federal regulation. Champ To .Sptak The subcommittee already had disclosed that Ingemar Johansson, the Swedish world heavyweight champion, and Floyd Patterson will be witnesses in later hearings on alleged irregularities concerning the promotion side of their first pout a year ago. i Kefauver said he felt it it was only Emeralds Move Back Into Lead By THE ASSOCIATES PRESS Eugene's Emeralds scrambled back into a percentage lead in the Northwest League Wednesday night on the strength of an 8-7 win over Wenatchee and Yakima's split doubleheader with Tri-Cities. Yakima, which lost the first game 12-9 and won the nightcap 1-0, still holds a half game edge over the Emeralds in the won-lost columns. However, its won-lost percentage is .623, compared to .625 for Eugene. Game Called In other league action, Salem and Lewiston fought to a 4-4 tie through 11 innings. The contest was finally called because of the curfew. The game will be replayed later. , Jerry Robinson's two-run single tied it for Eugene at 6-6 in the seventh frame of its fracas with the Chiefs at Wenatchee. Robinson scored the go-ahead run on an infield single and an infield out, then Mcl Kranse sin gled home the fourth run of .he inning. Wenatchee managed to get one tally back in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't score again. Tom Agosta cleaned up on Yaki ma pitching in 'he Bears' first game with Tri-Cities at Wenal chee. Johnson scored the Bears' run in the sixth on an error, an infield out and singles by Denis Menke and Mcr ritt Ranew. Lewiston, trailing Salem 4-3, tal lied the tieing run in the eighth stanza, then loaded the bases in the ninth but couldn't score. They battled through two more scoreless innings until the league curfew rule forced the clubs to stop.
