will be placed at Home's new airport, named for Da Vinci who

Ashland Med ford Residents
Attend Funeral In Melrose

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Nelson and
family of Ashland and Mr. and
Mrs. M. C. Nelson of Portland
were in Melrose recently to attend
funeral services for. the late Emil
Nelson.
They also visited in Roseburg
with Leon's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Nelson, former local resi
dents. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nelson have
received word of the birth of a
granddaughter, Marie Kay, to their
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs, Stanford Nelson, of Engle
woocl, Calif. Stanford, who was
raised in Melrose, is working for
the Remington Rand Unaback firm
in California.
Mrs. 'George Larson and chil
i drcn have returned from a visit in
Texas with her parents.
Youth Trains
Brian Pargeter has left for San
Diego, Calif., for two weeks of ba
sic Navy training after which he
will return homo before being as
signed to permanent service.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Abcel, who
were in Melrose overnight to at
tend to business, havo returned to
their work at Diamond Lake. Their
granddaughter-, 1 Susan Trusty, ac
companied them to the lake for a
vacation. i
Mr., and Mrs. Dale Busenbark
drove to Eugene to bring home
their daughter, Leta, who had been
visiting.in Corvallis with her brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs.

engineering at Oregon State Col
lege. Terry Reece is moving about on
crutches after suffering a cut on
his foot which required four stitch
es. He stepped on a broken bottle
in the Umpqua River while swim
ming. Father Visited
Mrs. Fern Wheeler and daugh
Faye, visited the former's father,
R. A. Busenbark, overnight. The
Wheelers were en route to their
home in Eugene from Ashland
where Faye has been attending
Southern Oregon College.
Mr. and Mrs. "Bert Young and
three sons were at Diamond Lake
recently to see how their cabin
fared during the winter's snow.
Enjoying an outing at Diamond
Lake recently were Mr. and Mrs.
C. E. Reece and Mr. and Mrs. W.
P. Hackney. They made the trip
via the North Umpqua Highway.
JoAnn Busenbark and her friend,
Betty Swanson, of Corvallis, are
spending a few days in Modesto,
cam., witn scnooi mcnas.
Visiting at the 0. O. Matthews
is their grandson, Harold Horn,
who is on Army leave from Ft.
Bragg, N. C, where he has served
a year witih the paratroopers. lie
will visit other relatives in this
area before returning to his home
in Klamath Falls lor the reamin
der of his leave. He also was in
Portland to see his brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gene
Horn.
