Mrs. George Barclay returned to her work in the jewelry depart ment at Miller's Monday, follow ing a three weeks vacation. Mrs. Barclay spent a part of her vaca tion in Oklahoma attending a fam ily reunion. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Motsehen bacher of this city spent Sunday at Shady Cove, Ore., attending a family reunion. Johnson said the canon forbids backing candidates and no code can keep a judge from speaking out on the issues of the day. "I am opposed to rape and murder." he said, "and would speak out against them. And the greatest crime even beyond those is in tegration." ' Mr. and Mrs. Robert O'Neil and son, Bruce, have returned here following a trip to Washington They were accompanied by their daughter, Peggy, and Mrs. O'Neil's mollier. Mrs. James Steele, 01 Ken ton, Wash. They visited in Seattle with Mrs. O'Neil's sister, Mrs. Mary Carbines, and Peggy remain ed there for a longer vacation, while Mr. and Jlrs. O'Neil and Bruce went on to Ohanepacosh Lodge in Ranier National Park, then to Yakima and down the Col umbia River Highway. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Brady of Coquille spent the weekend here visiting the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Ellison. Thev will spend the summer in Portland where Brady will attend summer school sessions at Portland State and Mrs. Brady, the former Don na Ellison of this city, will do practise teaching at Lincoln High School and will take summer school courses at Lewis and Clark College. They will both leach in the Coquille School System this coming school year. Brady taught in the school at Coquille this last school year. ' Myron Bevans, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Bevans of this city, was graduated Thursday from den tal school in Portland. Going up for the commencement were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Bev ans: his sister, Penny, and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Harry Grecn qui.st, all of Roseburg; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Grave A. Bev ans. of Dallas, Texas, and joining them there for commencement was his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Marion Rankin, of Nashville, Tenn. Mrs. Rankin accompanied the Bev ans family back to Roseburg to spend a week visiting here. this month will enter the United States Air Force Academy in Colo rado Springs, lolo, Dr. and Mrs. John Unruh and daughters, Gina, Becky, Tammy and Melissa, accompanied by Mrs. Edith Bailey, went to Portland for the Rose Festival to especially see the Roseburg bchool Marching Band as the unruhs son, John, is a band member. The band quoted in Portland papers as the flashy Roseburg Band, was the Queen's Honor Band, led the floral parade and was honor band for the junior festival court. The band also played for arriving American ships Wednesday. Police escort was given the band daily. Mrs. William Stowers and Mrs Wayne Batton, advisors, and 2ii girls of Alpha Zeta Theta Rho Girls Club No. 30, and their chap- crones, will leave Friday morning for Springfield to attend the state Theta Rho Girls Assembly. They have been invited to put on a trib ute to the Christian flag Saturday morning, rriday, attired in Indian costumes, they will present a pan tomime of the popular song hit, "Running Bear. A dress rehearsa. will be held Wednesday at 8 n.m. at the IOOF Hall to which the fam ilies and friends are invited to en joy. Mrs. John D. Todd, president of Chapter Bl; Mrs. A. Frauendiener of Mapleton, Ore. spent the week end here visiting relatives and friends. They came especially to attend the golden wedding celebra tion of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Rus sell.
