Mn. Helen Wynegar returned : Monday night from Longview, Wash., where she visited relatives during the past wqek. Mrs. L. W. Riley of this city spent Wednesday in Corvallis visit ing her sori-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Peter S. Williams, and baby son. Mrs. David Kesner went to Eu gene Tuesday to appear on the KVAL Bev Green show in behalf of the Merely Players in Rose i burg. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Linton of Corvallis visited here over the weekend with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J, H. Williams, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Langley and children, Linda and Lcnnie, left by car today, bound for Boston, Mass., to visit with Mrs. Lang ley's mothor, Mrs. Mary DiMauro, and other relatives. Leonard Lang Icy will return in three weeks to his work at Round Prairie Lumber Co. The others will stay in the East for three months. Mrs. Lyl Fenner, the former Helen White, and sons will move from Portland to Roseburg June 10 to join Mr. Fenner, manager of KQEN radio station. The Fenncrs have leased Dr. E. W. Carter's home on W. Elizabeth Street to reside. Mrs. Fenner is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford White of this city and is a sister of Mrs. Ray Puckett. Mist Ethel Van Voorst, daughter of Mrs. S. W. VanVoorst and tne late Air. Van Voorst of Roseburg, has arrived in Seoul, Korea, where she will be stationed by the Red Cross. Miss Van Voorst recently resigned as an airline stewardess for Bonanza Airlines to accept the overseas assignment wilh the American Red Cross. En route to Seoul, she enjoyed several days touring Japan. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ruckle and children, Palti, 10; Johnny, 9, and Jeannie, 7, who came to Roseburg last fall for the tormer to mum the Sevenlh-dav Adventist Church on Garden Valley Boulevard, have left to go to Fairbanks, Alaska, where Ruckle will supervise the building of a two-story structure to house the Adventist School and provide living quarters for Ihe teachers of the school. It will also serve for worship services until a church is built. Alost of the work will be done by volunteers under Ruckle's supervision. He expects to be there two months. The fam ily expects to visit places of in terest, in Canada and Alaska. In Ruckle's absence, his brother, Her bert, of San Francisco, will live in Hie Ruckle home on Fisher Road and will finish the Roseburg Ad ventist Church. His wife and 13- year-old son, Jimmy, came to Roseburg wilh mm. Tne Ben Ruck le family expects to be back in Roseburg about Aug. 1. (Jean) Thomp son has resigned her work with the Douglas County Library. Her place has been filled by Airs. El eanor Fraback. Ray W. Bigger Jr., of Tidewater Oil Co., Portland, formerly area supervisor with headquarters in Roseburg, spent Wednesday here attending to business. Karl Thiele has returned to Port land after spending the holiday weekend here visiting his parents, Air. and Mrs. Perry Thiele, and other relatives and friends. Bruce Cameron is spending the week here visiting his uncle and aunt, Air. and Mrs. Emil Ramberg, while his parents, Air. and Airs. W. C. Cameron, and their daugh ter and son, Janice and Robbie, move from Tillamook to Salem to reside. The Cameron family spent the holiday weekend here at the Ramberg home. Dr. and Mrs. John Haskins, who own a residence on Maple Street in Roseburg, expect to return here I in a few weeks to make their home. Dr. Haskins, who was man ager of the Roseburg VA Hospital for several years, has been in Portland the last few years. The Haskins have a daughter, Airs. Lee Hargis, who makes her home here wilh her family. j Mr. and Mrs. Bill Starnes en-' joyed a trip to San Francisco over : tne Memorial weekend to celebrate ; the latter's birthday. They visited Fisherman's Wharf, the Fairmont I Hotel, Cliff House, Golden Gate ! Park, Chinatown and report they j especially enjoyed the cable car3. ! They returned home Sunday and j stopped over in Aledford for a few hours. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Jones of ; Salem visited Saturday evening and Sunday at the home of Mrs. AI. E. Groshong at 373 W. Chapman. Jones is a cousin of Mrs. Gro shong. Mr. and Airs. Jones also visited at the home of Air. and Airs. John Jones, Air. and Airs. Rex. Jones and Air. and Mrs. Gil bert Wallers while in Roseburg. They returned to their home in Sa lem Sunday evening, Mr, and Mrs. Oscar Rolfsness went to Portland Friday night to attend the wedding of the latter's niece, Aliss Robert Rueck, daugh- i ter of Air. and Mrs. John Rueck. While there, they were the house- guests of Mr. and Airs. Raymond Rueck, brother and sister-in-law of Airs. Rolfsness. They enjoyed sail ing on the Columbia River during their stay. They returned to Rose burg Sunday night, stopping at Scholls to visit Mrs. Rolfsness par ents, Air. and Airs. George Rueck. Mr. and Mrs. John Dettwiler and children, David, Alarjorie, Carl and Jerry, of Cornelius, Ore., were surprise guests of Air. and Mrs. Elmer Hitchman over the- week end. Mrs. Dettwiler had lived with the Hitchmans in Seaside, Ore., while taking the ninth grade work in the church school there with Airs. Hitchman as her. teacher. Her mother was a student in the church school at Hopewell, Ore., while Mrs. Hitchman was principal and teacher there. The Dettwiler. were on their way to Alilo Acad emy to attend the graudalion ex ercises. A relative of Dettwiler was graduated. From there they plan ned a leisurely trip to Loma Lin da, Calif., to atlend graduation, at which time Airs. Detlwilcr's brother, Harvey Heidingcr, will be graduated from the College of Aled ical Evangelists, the Seventh-day Adventist medical training center. They planned a slop over in Yo semite National Park and a trip to San Diego, as well as to other points of interest. They will return via Arcala, Calif., to atlend grad uation exercises of the college Ihere, at which lime Dctlwiler's sister, Airs, Ted Beacraft, will be graduated. Miss Charlotte Hyre, Douglas County bookmobile librarian, spent the Alemorial holiday weekend in Yakima, Wash., visiting Airs. Retta Roberts and Airs. Pearl Brady. Bob Hultnan, who is stationed in Alaine with the U. S. Air Force, is presently home on leave and is vis iting his mother, Airs. Drucilla Hultman. Mrs. M. E. Groshong of the Harv ard Avenue Drugs, attended the Dorothy Gray training school Tues day at the Eugene Hotel held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. She visited her son-in-law and daughter, Air. and Mrs. Jack Amorde, and fam ily, in Springfield in the evening, after which she returned to her home here in Laurelwood. Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Kelsay of this cily went to Klamath Falls Thurs day to atlend to business. Mrs. William Bailey is spending Ihe week in Portland visiting rela tives.
