Mrs. James Saxon Jr. has re ceived word from Mr. ana Mis. Carl F. Timmerman ot Madtord of the death bv drowning ot their 10-year-old son, Roger. The trag edy took place over the Memorial Day weekend. Mrs. Timmerman is a registered nurse a the Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital. She and Mrs.- &axon worked together for several years at Medtord. Mr. and Mrs. John William Rob ertson of this city went to Port land Friday to attend to business and then went on to The Dalles to attend the Oregon Shorthand Re porters convention. They were ac companied as far as Hood River by their son-io law and daughter, Sir. and Mrs. Robert Hoeppner. and baby daughter. Laura, of Eu gene, who spent Uie weekend vis iting Hoeppner's parents, Mr. and .Mrs. Ray Hoeppner. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Aamot and son, Larry, and daushter, Vicki, will leave Roseburg soon for a vis it in the Midwest. Helweg, who has been spending the last month in Minneapolis, Minn., visiting rela tives and friends, expects to re turn to her home here this week. She accompanied Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Cornwetl back to Minneapolis and is returning here by plane. The Cornwells returned home a few days ago. Mr. and Mrs. W. K.' Burnett and ,lnughtcr, Carleen, were in Portland for the weekend to visit Burnett's sistcr-in law Mrs. J. D. Burnett, and hoys. Carter is presently confined to the hospital where he is recuperating from injuries suf fered in a recent car accident. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Baker of this city had as guests for lunch Sunday the lattcr's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cope land, of Areata, Calif.; and Mrs. Pauline Jackson and daughter, Mary Alice, of Port Orford. Mrs. Blain, Mrs. Ruhl and Mrs. Baker were all school friends at Oakland, Ore. Mike Bloomquist has left for Klamath Falls to resume his stud ies at OTI following the weekend spent here visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bloomqni-t. The Brittons live at the newly named town, Sun City, Ariz., during the winter. Britton won a home at Sun City for being the winner of naming the new town. They have a traier home at the Shamrock Trailer place in Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. Piul B. Hult at tended the Southern Oregon Horse Show in Grants Pass Saturday and Sunday, at which time thev re ceived first place trophy in Fam ily class, riding their Arabians, Nashar and Li Mirage. Mr. and Mrs, Allen Sherlock of Winston. and Mr. and Jlrs. Charles Kash and son, Tim. of Dillard, also at tended. Charles and Tim Kash won third place in the Family Class rifling a quarter horse, bandy. and an Arabian, Teffah, in a class of seven. Charles Kash won first place trophy in Men's Western Pleasure, riding his quarter horse, Sandy, in a class of 29, and his son. 11m, won ursi place tropny in Western Pleasure, 13 years and Mr. and Mrs. Jean Wells went fishing at East Lake oyer the weekend. Miss Jennie Murphy, student at University of Oregon, spent the Memorial weekend here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Murphy. - , Steve Kummert, Southern Ore gon College studert, spent the weekend here visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Kummert. He ramained until Tuesday night and left for Ashland after attending the Roseburg High School com mencement exercises. Mr. and Mrs. Joe White and the latter's daughter, Miss Sharon Hounsholl, spent Sunday in Klam ath Falls visiting Mrs. White's son and daughter in-law, Mr. and airs. Kenneth Huunsneu. They stopped in Medford to see relatives who included Mrs. White's sister, Mrs. Mildred Hogge of Page, Ariz. Mrs. N. Scott of San Francisco.
