The committee for youth activi
ties met at the Winston School re
cently for additional planning to
ward forming a youth center in
Winston, which will provide rec
reational activities for the youth
in the Winston, Dillard, Looking
glass and Tenmile areas,
A proposed plan for a summer
program will he presented to the
public at a meeting, May 26 at 7
p.m. in the Winston School audi
torium for approval or disapprov
al. Residents in the mentioned
communities are asked to attend
this meeting and if the proposal
is approved a hoard of directors
will he formed to control the fi
nances and advancement of the
youth center.
The summer nrnrram wnnlri in
clude ping pong, horse shoes, soft
hall and possibly crafts and hob-
jbies. Roller skating is to be re
sumed also.

! Several suggestions for raising
'funds for such a project will also
I be presented to the residents for
consideration. The Winston Kiwan-
is Club and Chamber of Commerce
have pledged their support and
several individuals have offered fi
nancial assistance.

Ryder, Dennis Carter, Dan Dodd,
David Carter, Bob Sigley. Darlene
Kleve and Leona Sheppherd has
been appointed to meet with the
adult group, which consists of
Hartley Campbell, the Rev. W. O.
Walker, Kva l.akey of Tenmile,
Joyce Morgan of Lookinggiass,
Jeanette Buckleair. Bill Buey,
Paul Dodd, Bob Williams and C.
C. Fosback.
The youth center will be located
at the Winston Community 1'ark
and Community Building.

dent Eisenhower has ordered an I

the Samos reconnaisance satellite
is coming up.
This country is so far alone ;
with ils Samos program that Ihe
first of a planned network of them
should be circling the earth with-1
in the next four months. 1
Experts say it will do a far
more elfective job than the l:2
could and will be much harder
to knock down.
We have done a number of
things to lessen the vulnerability
of Samos satellites," an Air Forte
officer disclosed in an exclusive'
interview. "I won't say what
those things are, bul Samos will
not be an easy target.
The high-ranking officer, who
declined use of his name, said
there had been no speedup in the
Samos program since the L'2 in
cident because Samos nau a top1
priority.
The Samos satellites, contain-,
ing photographic and television 1
equipment, will be boosted into
nolar orbit bv Atlas missiles from ;

every square mile of the earth's

as missiles on launch pads. Oth

Each satellite probably will he
able both to lake films for later
study and lo televise scenes im-1
mediately.
