Crittenden, who re cently moved from SE Kane Street to the Kohlhagen Apartments to make her home, is able to be out attain, after being confined to her home for several weeks because of having suffered spraini to both ankles. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wiley Jr. left for Portland today to spend the weekend with Mrs. Wiley's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hampton of Baker, who are making the trip to Portland to attend to business matters and to be with the Wileys. The Hamptons are owners of the Hereford Motel in Baker. Mrs. Fred Ruga, Mrs. George Stroop and Mrs. Larry Hanlon re turned home Thursday after a trip to Portland for the convention of the Oregon Federation of Women s Club. The three women are mem bers of the Roseburg Junior Worn an's Club. They had accomoda tions at the New Sheraton Hotel. (Bill) Bailey, who has been confined to Mercy Hospital, suffering from the effects of a broken leg, has been discharged from the hospital and is now re cuperating at her home. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Graham of Winchester recently returned from a two-week vacation trip to the Midwest, accompanied by their son-in-law and daughter, Air. and Mrs. R. D. Ballinger. and family of Mt. Shasta, Calif. They visited relativ es and friends in Missouri, Iowa and Idaho. Graham has returned to his work at the Oregon Water Corp. The Ballcntines have return ed to their home in Alt. Shasta. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Mack had as guests last week the latter's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Clay, of Ellensburg, Wash., and their son-in-law and daughter, Air. and Airs. James Deccio, of Yakima, Wash. They were on their vacation to Cali fornia, where they will visit Mrs. Everett Clay and family in Tracy and with friends in San Jose. They will return to their homes via Yosemite Park and Reno, Nev. John Seelv. son of Dr. and Afrs. Hall Seely, is still confined to his home as the result of serious leg burns suffered two weeks ago, when he and a croup of neighbor children were experimenting with home-made rocket on the river bank. Gasoline being used to set the rocket off. exploded and young Seely suffered burns that hospital ized him. A skin gralt was aone at the hospital. It is ;nected it will be several weeks jet beforeJ John is able to be out again. According to word received here, John Lautz, formerly of this city, will be ordained a priest at Alt. Angel Alay 26. He will say his first Mass al St. Josepn's catholic Church in Roseburg June 5. He will be Father Boniface. John is the adonted son of Aliss Gertrude Lautz, formerly anesthetist at Mer- cv Hospital. A number trom nose burg plan to go to AH. Angel for the ordination, while a number from out of town plan to come to Roseburg June 5 to hear his lust Mass. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Watson of Los Angeles, Calif., arrived in Roseburg Thursday evening to vis it at the horns of the latter's son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Airs Jack Alay. En route here, they stopped briefly in San Francisco. This weekend they plan to go first to Coos Bay to visit the H. H. Harpers, son and daughter-in-law of Mrs. Watson. Ulrs. Harper is presently recovering from re cent surgery and is confined to a Coos Bay Hospital. Crittenden of this city, has just received his degree in law from the University of California. Crit-1 tenden is employed in the trust department of the Crocker-Angelo Bank in San Francisco, where he has been employed for the last fivei years. Alaurine Neuberger said Thursday. She told a candidate's rally at the Portland Labor Temple that spiralling medical care costs, particularly for older citizens, are a major problem facing the na tion. Airs.
