Forest Firebug's Case

case of a 21-year-old ex firefight
er, who started a 14.000-acre for
est fire because he was "fed up"
with the U.S. Forest Service, has'
been referred to the California
Youth Authority.
The authority will decide June
23 whether it will accept William
D. Grater of Tijunga. A judge re
ferred the case Friday to the
CYA, commenting that Grater
needs supervision and guidance,
not a prison term.
The fire raged for days through

Disease Of Babies Due
For Corrective Effort
PORTLAND (AP) One per
cent of all cases in mental institu
tions today are there because of
a disability known .as phenylken
tonuria. The state Board of Health said
here that a simple test given to a
baby at the age of four months
will reveal if the disabiltiy exists.
Dr. Richard H. Wilcox, state
health officer, said if it exists it
ran be eliminated by a special
diet for the child.
He said a state-wide program
has been launched to detect and
cure any cases that exist.
Two Marion County hospitals al
ready are scheduled to participate
in a pilot detection program.
The board said each ease that
goes undetected costs the state

of Tehran, Iran, left today for
Sacramento, Calif., to visit rela
tivesnollowing a visit here since
Saturday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Burton Randall. En route
here they stopped in Ann Arbor,
Mich., to visit their son and daugh
ter-in-law. Air. and Airs. Bruce (Lu
cinda Randall) Brenn. The Brenns
toured Europe before returning to
the I nited States aboard the CSS
Constitution. From Sacramento.
Brenn, who Is director of United
Stales Operation Missions to Iran,
will return to Washington DC,
and then go back to his duties in
Iran. Airs. Brenn will visit rela
tives in Boise, Idaho, end then
fly to Hawaii to visit her son,
Harry Brenn, and his family, aft
er which she will go to Hong Kong
and on back to Iran to join her
husband. Brenn has been station
ed in 19 different countries.

in Germany, according to word re
ceived here. Peter got special
passes to enter East Germany,
which is under Russian rule and
his latest letters back to this coun
try describe his experiences there.
Peter has been especially interest
ed in visiting East Germany, which
has come into so much publicity
during the years of Occupation by
tne Russians and which will be the
subject of the next Summit Con
ference. Mr. and Mrs. J. Walter Davis
of Oroville, Calif., arrived in Rose
burg Sunday evening to see their
new granddaughter, who was born
Alay 8 to their son-in-law and
daughter, Air. and Mrs. John Horn.
The baby joins two sisters, Lor
raine Kay and Debra. Air. and
-Mrs. Davis were Sunday evening
dinner guests at the home of Air.
and Airs. Harold Horn on SE Jack

main here to assist in the care of
her grandchildren, while her hus
band will leave today for their

They will fly to Aledford, then to
Dallas, Tex., where they will board
a chartered plane for Nassau. They
will return Thursday of next week.
