The occa sion was a complete surprise to Mrs. Bridges. The following distinguished guests were introduced and wel comed: Ronald L. Gilson, worthy grand patron of the Grand Chap ter of Oregon; Carlotta K. Wise man, past grand matron of the Grand Chapter of Oregon; Olga Bielman, member of the special projects committee; LaVcrne Von Srhnltz grand representative of New Hampshire; and a group of visiting worthy matrons and worthy patrons. Clyde Riffe was guest or ganist for the evening. Fifteen past matrons and seven past patrons were present. Ruth Bridges was escorted lo a place of honor where Worthy Ma tron Gertrude Hebard presented her wilh a beautiful corsage. "This is Your Life Ruth Bridges" was read by Mrs. Bielman from a book let which had been compiled listing all the officers Kuth had served under, together with the years she served. Her husband, Itaiston Brid ges, was introduced and added to the episodes in her life. Glide Banquet And Prom Is Outstanding Event Saturday The annual junior-senior ban quet and prom of Glide High School held Saturday evening in the Gold Room of the Hotel Umpqua, was the most outstanding event to be hosted by a Glide junior class. During the dinner hour, ballots were passed out to select the reign ing monarchs for the prom. As the Bob Keese orchestra of Roseburg played the opening mu sic for the ball, Pat Iteese, a sen ior, was crowned queen and David Cellers, a senior, crowned king. Princesses were April Hansen, Ju dy Cox and Sandy Isaakson. Princ es were Mike Dunstan, Les Bog ner and Joe Eifert. One-hundred thirty students and guests made a delightful picture, the girls in lovely formal gowns wearing corsages from their es corts. Cloyde Riffe, accompanied by Jean Trenian, sang "Friend of Mine" and a speciul number en titled "Kuth Bridges is her Name." An addenda was presented by the courtesy officers, each carrying a golden lyre. Juamta llolgate, ac companied by Mrs. Treinan, sang a song especially written by Mrs. llolgate for Kuth to the tune of "With a Song in my Heart." The worthy matron then present ed Mrs. Bridges wilh a gift from the chapter and thanked her for all the work she has done for the chapter. Mrs. Bridges expressed her sincere appreciation for the wonderful surprise and honors. At the close of the evening, re freshments were served in the din in robin which was beautifully dec orated. The committee in charge were Juanita llolgate, chairman; Vern llolgate, Beulah DcMuth, Ida Lehman, Ida Pinkston, Lloyd Pink stnn, Vi Hubbell and Herbert Hub-bell. Bob Shrum was chairman of the banquet committee and Jerallec Bunnell was chairman of the prom committee of the successful affair. Club Meets At Metzger Home Mrs. L. W. Metzger entertained her duplicate bridge club Monday at her beautiful home on Metzger Court. Guests were Miss Helen Cas ey and Mrs. L. J. Fullerton.
