roting hormone and keeping the
sand moist usually causes roots to
form in two or three weeks this
time of year. After the tips are
rooted, tiiey may be planted in
two-pound coffee cans or larger
cans. They like about a table
spoon of bonemeal mixed with the
bottom half of the soil or any low
nitrogen fertilizer. One tablespoon
of super phosphate helps. Put the
cans or boxes out in, full sun for
the summer and water. A light
feeding of liquid fertilizer once a
week is good. Also spray when
needed. Drying out slows the
growth by hardening the wood.

high, tip pruning will cause early
branching. This may be done again
in July. When the buds first form,
pick or roll out all but one bud on
the end of each branch. There
should be no more than five
branches.

Ore., housewife and awarded her
a bronze medal for saving the
life of another woman two years

The woman honored is Mrs.
Flora S. McKinley, tkl, who saved
the life of Johnanna 1. Smith. 33,
Sept. 25, 1958 near Tillamook.
.Mrs. Smith had swerved her
small two-door coupe to avoid a
collision and it plunged into the
Trask River and slowly sank
some 25 feet from the steep hank.

sanitary sewer on Bogard Street in the
following manner:
1. By excavating a trench to coper sub
grade in which to install a sewer pipe
and of sufficient width to permit prop
er Installation and Inspection.
2 By laying and Installing approximately
the following lineal feet of sewer pipe:

220 feet of Inch
3. By laying and installing approximately
I pipe tees.
4. By constructing approximately 1 con
crete manhole with cast iron cover.
5. By backfilling with suitable materi
al as provided tor In the specifications.

accordance with the Charter and ordi
nances ot the City of Roseburg, Oregon
and the grade, plans and specifications
and estimates of the Cily Enqlneer tiled
