men today began the job of plant
ing 243,000 two to three-year-old
pine trees' in the Umatilla Na
tional Forest.
The work is being done in Ihc
Dale and Heppncr districts, west
of Pendleton. Plantings were to
have been made in the Pendleton,
but snow was loo heavy.
The U.S. Forest Service is in
