Guest-Day Affair To Be May 5th Women of the Roseburg Country Club met for a noon luncheon Thursday at the clubhouse followed by the weekley contract bridge tournament play. Winners were Mrs. Keith Bryant, first; Mrs. W L. Tozer, second, and Mrs. Ken neth Bailey, third. Plans are being made bv the members for the annual spring guest-day bridge-luncheon to be an event of May S at 12:30 noon at the clubhouse. Members and their invited guests are to make up their own respective tables and those attending are asked to bring their own cards. Wedding Takes Place Saturday Barbara Jean Garr, daughter of Mrs. Bernice Pace, and William David Johnston, ton of Mrs. Gus sie Johnston, were united in double ring ceremony Saturday ctening, March 12. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Appling ol Oakland. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Wells of the Neighborhood Church of Christ. Janet Garr, sister of the bride, and Wayne Johnston, brother of the bridegroom, were maid of hon or and best man, respectively. Ed win Gammon, uncle of the bride, gave the bride in marriage. Mrs. Howard Pape, Mrs. Morris Ashcraft and Mary Markillie pro sided at the serving table and served cake, coffee and punch. Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pape and Kathleen and Misi Mary Gammon, all of North Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gammon and Gary and Mike, Mo Minnville; and Mn. Edwin Gam mon of Cottage Grove. Calapooia Women's Club Has Meeting And Potluofc The Calapooia Women's Club held its March all-day meeting Wednesday. A potluck dinner was served at 12:30, with Frankie Moore and Hazel Haines as co hostesses. Mable Allen and Agnes Wilcox were special guests. The day was spent quilting. Following the dinner, the meet ing was conducted by the presi dent, Alice miiiou. me ways ana means chairman offered several projects, the first to be a card party and luncheon at the club house at 12:30 p.m. April 13. The welfare chairman gave a report and mentioned the progress of "Operation Baby Doll." A request was made for old blankets for mak ing welfare quilts. Thanks is given to H. Koozer for the quilt stand he made for the club. Rummage Sale Tomorrow The Oregon State Mothers Club will hold a rummage sale tomor row at 8 a.m. in the lobby of the Grand Hotel. Awards Given To Oakland Scouts G o Boy Scout Troop 29 of Oakland celebrated the golden anniversary of Scouting at a ham dinner and court of honor Tuesday evening at the Veterans Memorial Building. Mrs. Mart Hakanson, Mrs. Herb ert Parker, Mrs. R. Severson, Mrs. Mel Davis and Jackie Green were in charge of the dinner which was served to about 60 Scouts and their parents and friends. A beautifully decorated cake in white and gold was served. Phil Ncaphcr. Scout executive of Ore gon Trail Council, gave a history of Scouting. Scoutmaster Perry Green, as sisted by Andy Anderson, Scout master of Troop 36, Riddle, and John Mandero piesented awards to Steve Nelson, Dennis Parker, Ron ald Sanderson, Leroy Upton, Boyd and Bruce Stuwe, Wayne Davis, Buford Sanderson, Jimmie Jacks, Mike Williamson, Paul Rard and Marty Hakanson. Francis Todd, Holt Grimes and Mart Hakanson are members of the troop committee. Fri., Mor. 25, 1960Thii Newt-Review, Roseburg, Ore. 5 Pink And Blue Then Of Charming Shower Party Miss' Judy Horton and Miss Gladys Ollivant entertained at a charming pink and blue shower re cently honoring Mrs. David Argo. The party was held at the Clar ence Horton home. Featured in the decorations was a circular candelabra arrange ment carrying out the pink and blue theme. Appropriate games were played, with Irene Leggett, Moya Shear er and the honoree winning prizes. Following the opening of gifts, delicious refreshments were serv ed. Invited to honor Mrs. Argo were Audrey Nielsen, Nancy Kneggs, Connie Kingry, Mrs. Clarence Hor ton, Bonnie Jones, Linda Ollivant, Irene Leggett and Sioya Shearer. Birthday Celebrated Mrs. Gene Anderson of Elkton took a birthday cake and ice cream to the second grade class Wednesday in honor of her daugh ter, Cynthia, on her eighth birthday. Jewelry Program To Be Presented Beta Iota, ESA, held its meet ing Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Smith. Dur ing the meeting, which was con ducted by the president, Mrs. Don Kruse, the rushing scrap book and the state convention were subjects for discussion. After the meeting, Court Whist was played. The hostess and her co-hostess, Mrs. Bill Matthews, served re freshments to the following guests: Mrs. Bob Hnvs, Mrs. Floyd Irwin and Mrs. Dick Buswcll, and tu members, Mrs. Michael Wooton, Mrs. Joe Sinko, Mrs. Pat Shepard, Mrs. Ron Rogan, Mr.i. TO MARRY The engage ment of Bonnie Lee Jones ond Donald George Siebrasse, both of this city, has recently been announced. The bride elect is the daughter of Mrs. I la Jones of Roseburg and James A. Jones of Santa Rosa, Calif. The bridegroom-eilect is the son of Mrs. Wesley J. Warren of Portlond. The wed ding will take place in Port land in July. The bride-elect is employed as a bookkeeper at Hub Lumber Co. and the bridegroom-elect is employed ot National Plywood, Inc. Cub Scout Pack Receives Awards At Buffet Dinner The Cub Scout, Pack 119, of the Winchester-Wilbur area held their Blue and Gold dinner at the Win chester School gymnasium recently- The Rev. John Ginter gave the invocation and Ben Smith, princi pal of Wilbur Grade School, pre sided as master of ceremonies. Cubmaster Willard Pease con ducted the lovely candlclighting ceremony. About 120 people attend ed (he dinner where 24 Scouts re ceived awards. Special guests were the Rev. and Mrs. John Ginter and their daugh ter, Priscilla, and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Meagher and family. Phillip Meagher, district scout executive, gave a talk on "Scout ing." The large potluck dinner was served buffet style. A lovely cake, baked by Emma Gregory, had been decorated with the Cub Scout emblem. All decorations were made by the Scouts and each den decorated a table in the blue and gold theme. The Cub Scouts are sponsored by the Winchester-Wilbur PTA. Their next pack meeting will be April 11 at 7 p.m. at Winchester School, Tau Eta Eta Has 10th Anniversary Tau Etta Eta sorority celebrated its 10th anniversary Wednesday evening. A carnation corsage was presented to Mrs. Ernest Peel, president; Mrs. Earl Wiley Jr., a charter member; and Mrs. Lee Wilson, advisor. The banquet dinner was catered by Ruth Bradley in her lovely home at Winchester. Those attendirg were Mrs. Doyle Cook. Mrs. Larry DeVault, Mrs. John Elliott, Mrs. Joe Hachenberg, Mrs. Harry Harryman. Mrs. Wil liam House, Mrs. Bill Marie, Mrs. Troy Owens, Mrs. Ernest Peel, Mrs. Bill rhillips, Mrs. Gene Rush ton, Mrs. Elmer Scrape, Mrs. Ted Vrettas, Mrs. Jesse Walker, Mrs. Wayne Wheeler, Mrs. Earl Wiley Jr., Mrs. Ise Wilson and Mrs. Roy Woodall. After dinner, members retired In the home of Mrs. Ted Vrettas on Church Avenue for an evening of games, prizes for tt'hich were won by Mrs. DeVault, Mrs. House, Mrs. Peel and Mrs. Wiley.
