Heads Cleared By 'Happy Pill' LOS ANGELES (AP)-Mad at your boss? Would you like lo have a clear. er head and more push to get things done? What you need is Librium, a new "happy pill" described at a University o Southern California symposium attended Thursday by 400 physicians and specialists in internal medicine. The drug, which has just come on the market, has been used hv more than 2.000 doctors on 20,0110 patients in the United States since its discovery a year ago. Dr. S. P. Wise, assistant clini cal professor of medicine at Bav lor University, Houston. Tex., told the symposium the drug helps re lieve the pain of angina pectoris and prevents epileptic seizures. Dr. Wise said it also keeps pa tients from setting an?ry during their day's work, improves their judgment and clear thinking and adds 'n their drive to get more work done. Chemical name for the drug is methaminodiarepoxide. It can be obtained only on a doctor's pre scription. Only ill effects noted so far are a temporary drowsiness and mild muscular incoordination, the phy sician said. Librium was first tested on ani mals inllie Boston and San Diego zoos 4M showed remarkable quieting effects. At the San Diego Zoo, a wild Kuropean lynx whicli always threw itself against the bars of its cage when anyone ap proached became as quiet as a house cat and could be petted by Passsnger Run To End BELFASTCMaine (AP) Pass enger service will end March 10 on the country's oldest.
