V Solon Fears Loss
Of Two Continents
PENDLETON (AP) -Son. Rich
ard Neuberger (D-Ore) today said
Asia and Africa will become parts
of the communist bloc if the
United States ails in its foreign
aid mission.
Neuberger said the United
States must "bolster the living
standards, medical needs and lit
eracy rates of those undeveloped
lands."
In remarks prepared for the
Pendleton Chamber of Commerce,
Neuberger said "the Republican
administration has embraced the
foreign aid and reciprocal trade
programs of its Democratic pre
decessors." Neuberger said his mail from
Oregon voters have indicated his
support of the Eisenhower foreign
aid program has not been popular.
However, the senator said, "the
fate of the free world is too im
portant a matter to be left to par
tisan politics."

World Trade In Wheat,
Flour Exceeds Forecast
WASHINGTON (AP) World
wheat and flour trade in 1958-59
reached approximately 1,259,000,
000 bushels, or 69 million bush
els more than the final estimate
of 1957-58 trade, the Agriculture
Department reported.
Though this trade exceeds
earlier estimates, it is still about
71 million bushels below the 1950
57 record of 1,328,000,000 bushels.
A decline of French export and
a substantial increase of Soviet
exports to non-Communist areas
characterized last season's world
trade, the report said.
