THE HIGH SCHOOL young people of the First Baptist Church held a spring bonquet
Friday night with 64 young people including guests from Brookings, Grants Pass and
Medford, meeting in the lower auditorium of the church. "Candy Land" wos the theme
corried out in the decorations consisting of life-size gingerbread men, hundreds of
balloons, marshmallow castles ard oil types of condy favors. A front of a wafer house

Festival Of Purim
Observed This Week
The Hebrew Festival of Purim,
commemorating political and reli
gious freedom, was celebrated this
week in the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard F. Fogel.
Kosalyn. the rogeis' five-year-
old daughter, portrayed the histori
cal Queen Esther by being hostess
to the neighborhood children who
joined in the feasting and merri
ment of the occasion.
The carnival spirit prevailed in
the decorations and favors. Ham-
mantashen, the three-cornered pop
py seed-filled cakes, and other
traditional delicacies were enjoy
ed. Festive Purim baskets were
given to all the children. The holi
day was filled with gladness and
gaiety.

Honored Sunday Night
Members of the Olivet Paesbyter-
tan Church in Glendale held a pot
luck supper at the churcn Sunday
evening. Honoring Airs. J. J. uav-

rejoin her husband in the mission
field in the Belgian Congo
Mrs. Davis spoke bricily after
the dinner of some of her experi
ences as a pioneer missionary. She
and her husband opened up the
Belgian Congo field for the South
ern Methodist Church in 1920 and
spent more than 30 years there.
Two years ag6 they returned to
America. After a period of preach
ing and reporting on the work
here, he returned to open up a
new station.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Anderson of
Glendale, who visited the station
last summer, closed the program
by showing motion pictures they
took on their trip to Africa. About
