FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 1959 61-59 SECOND SECTION MR. AND MRS. GEORGE R. SINGLETON have lived in Roseburg since their marriage in 1902. They reside at 136 SE Hoover Ave. Mr. Singleton was born at Dixonville and Mrs. Singleton was born in Ashland. They have a son, George L. Singleton, Roseburg, and a daughter, Mrs. Cyril Nichols, Brockway. They have six grandchildren and, eight great grandchildren. Prior to retiring, Mr. Singleton was a brakeman for the Southern Pacific Co. MR. 'AND MRS. STANLEY L. KIDDER have been Roseburg residents in their early lives ond again since World War II. The remainder has been spent in Manila, P. I. They ore making their home at 236 SE Stephens in the house in which Mrs. Kidder was born. Mr. Kidder was in the Federal Government Service for many years. They have three sons, Stanley R., who is with the State Department in Washington, D. C; Robert P., who is chief of special services at the Roseburg VA Hospital, and Major Jomes, who is just back from Viet Nam ond is now in Washington, D. C. They have 10 grandchildren. MRS. A. E. KENT is the descendant of both Southern ond Slorthern people. Her grand father, Enos Dixon, came west in 1848 and then went back to New York ond brought his family here in 1851 by covered wagon. Her family still is one of the few in Oregon who own originol donation land property. Mrs. Kent makes her home at 1062 SE Jackson. EDITH, LULU AND ISABEL CURRY came to Roseburg in 1894, when the beautiful Curry estate home was built in Riversdale by their uncle, Thomas Curry, and their brother, Charles Curry. They had made their home prior to that in San Francisco, where their father was a prominent merchant and gunsmith. Before moving to their present home at 1119 SE Kane Street, they resided on Curry Estate, which they sold to Rivers dale Sanitarium. MR. AND MRS. HENRY HARTH came to Roseburg from San Francisco in 1908 and Mr. Harth owned for many years Harth's Toggery on Jackson Street. They drove the first car, a two-cylinder Tourist, over the Coos Bay wagon road to Coos Bay in 1921. After selling the store, Mr. Horth wos in the trailer sales business for a number of years. Mr. and Mrs. Harth have enjoyed traveling and have made a trip around the world, to the Corribbeon, to Mexico ond to Canada.
