The principal request has been
for the Douglas fir as a potential
wood producing tie and for the
three species of true firs for the
purpose of establishing Christmas
tree plantations.
The Christmas tree harvest from
the natural stands of Douglas fir
years to come as a result of the
setting up of the tree farm pro
gram. The market will begin to
look to the established plantations
for a sourca of Christmas trees.
The most desirable species fiom
the standpoint of maximum price
per tree to the groners are the
true firs.
Maus stated that trees still avail
able include ihe Kastern Oregon
ariety of Douglas fir, ponderosa
