Stanton Since Secretary Dulles was found to have cancer he has been highly praised both by his friends and those who previously were extremely critical. Dulles recently underwent an operation In which R was found that cancer cells had remained In his body follow ing previous surgery. Perhaps he will respond to treat ment. It is indeed to be hoped that such is the case. But, in any event, he is a very sick man, yet a man who, in my opinion, we can't afford to lose at this time. Perhaps no man in recent times has aroused more con troversy than has Dulles. His policies as Secretary of , nPr, at some of the floosiest night State have been under continuous fire. On the other hand, I think that one of the best recom mendations Dulles could have is to be found in certain of those who oppose him. Certainly the fact that the enemies of this country find him a thorn in the flesh is something of which he may be proud. At the same time we find he has drawn criticism from some "front" organizations and individuals, a number of our American Socialists and with some people who are easily led by propaganda and who fail to think more than superficially. ' Possibly there are better methods than those Dulles has advocated. Maybe his policies could be improved. Per haps others have ideas that should be incorporated into our foreign policy.
