Bowker of Koseburg, Douglas County assessor, is sched uled to discuss the controversial timber tax issue Keb. 27 at the 21st annual Oregon Logeing Confer ence and Equipment Show in Ku- t;ene. Howker said today he has been invited to give his views on taxa tion of private timberlands in his capacity as president of the Ore gun County Assessors Assn. He will appear on morning and afternoon panels along with state tax commissioners to discuss the tax issue which caused a stir in the stale last summer and fall. Douglas County authorities refused to revise valuation on standing timber, and were upheld here by Circuit Judge Carl E. Wimberly over a rommissir) ruling. The three-day equipment show at Eugene is one of the largest dis plays of logging machinery any where. It is being held at th Lane County Fairgrounds where the tax issue is slated to he aired. Other topics on the agenda in clude a conference on industrial accidents, unemployment compen sation problems and personal prop erty, log and inventory taxation. The name of the annual session was changed last year from Wil lamette Valley Logging Conference in recognition of the fact that it was drawing attendance from far outside the valley, and was deal ing with problems applicable to the entire state. His Cabinet was made up en tirely of members of his own Christian Democrat party, which has less than a majority in Parlia ment. Promised right-wing sup port from Liberals and Monarch ists made Segni virtually sure of winning at least his first vote of confidence, probably within a week. President Giovanni Gronchi swore Segni into office after ap proving his cabinet lineup.
