... new Glide principal
New Principal
At Glide High
Trastcl Werth of Gresham has
taken over duties as principal of
Glide High School. He replaces
Ray L. Talbert who is the new
principal at Douglas High School.
For the past five years Werth
has taught mathematics at Gresh
am Union High School where he
was also a counselor and testing
officer. Werth has moved to the
Glide area with his wife and two
daughters.
The new .Glide principal received
his Bachelor's degree in engineer
ing from Oregon state College.
He has also worked as an electri
cal engineer at Boeing Aircraft
Co. in Seattle and for the U.S.
Army Engineering Corps.
Werth was a member of the Hol
iday Park Church board of trus
tees at Portland, Oregon Council
of Churches and the Oregon Youth
Planning Commission.

Teachers Back
All teachers in the Elkton School
District will be returning to the
classrooms when school opens
there Sent. 3. This is the first
time in many years there has not
been a vacancy to fill in the teach
ing staff, Supt. Leo Crisman re
ports. An estimated 75 students are ex
pected to enroll in Elkton High
Schol and 190 in the grade school.
First graders are estimated to
number at least 26, Mrs. Wade

During the summer months im
provements to the school facilities
have been completed. The high
school grounds have been partial
ly landscaped and the rest of the
wprk will be completed next year.
A new play shed floor at the grade
school has been black topped as
well as the area around the
swings and merry-go-round.

' Most' of the exterior of the grade
school has been painted and the
roof between the play shed and
school building has been extended
the full width of the building.
Seven teachers will welcome
students back to Elkton High
School in September. Crisman, be
sides serving as superintendent,
will also be principal and teach
geometry. Carl Grimsrud, who has
