Sharon Fiksdal Becomes
Bride Of Leon Hambrick
The marriage of Sharon Fiks
dal, daughter of Mr. and Mn. Bert
Fiksdal of Roseburg, and Leon
Hambrick, son of Mr. and Mr. Al
fred Hambrick of Sutherlui, took
place Friday, June u, at St.
Paul's Lutheran Church. The Rev.
W. A. Sylwester officiated at the
7:30 ceremony which was attended
bv close relatives of the couple.
The lovely floral decorations of
baskets of red roses and sanpdrag
ons were' arranged by Mrs. Syl
wester. The bride was lovely in a pale
blue street-length fullskirted dress
of dacron. She was attended by
Mrs. Patrick Hambrick who wore
a white silk full-skirted two-piece
dress.
Patrick Hambrick acted as best
man for his brother.
The bride's mother wore be
coming two-piece orchid dress. The
bridegroom's mother was attrac
tively attired in a flowered silk
dress.
Following the ceremony, a re
ception was held at the home of
the bride's parents.
The bride was graduated in 1957
from Roseburg High School and
has been employed in the jewelry
department at Woolwdrth's.
The bridegroom is employed by
Nordic Plywood at Sutherlin.
Following a short honeymoon to
the Mckenzie River, the newlv-
weds are at home at 1225 SE Mill I

"Grandmother" Shower
Party Given Recently
A delightful "grandmother"
shower was given recently by a
group of friends honoring M r s.
Chester Hercher, when they called
at her home to celebrate the ar
rival of her first grandchild, Mi
chael Kevin Hercher, who was
born June 1 in DeRitter, La
William Hercher and the former
Jovce Knudson of Roseburg.
A centerpiece of red roses graced
the lace-covered table. Lovely gifts
were presented to Mrs. ' Hercher
and refreshments were served to
the guest of honor and Mrs. Orville
Richman, Mrs. Lena Slattcry. Miss
Elsie Hudson, Miss Nelda Norris,
Mrs. Charles Long. Mrs. E. C. Wi
nter, Mrs. W. R. Holbrook and Mrs.
W. E. Hercher.

AT LOVELY BRIDAL SHOWER
Mrs. Erwin Gubser, and Mrs.
Russell Hawk were co-hostesses for
a bridal shower given recently at
Mrs. Gubser's home in Winston
honoring Marilyn Hull.
The serving table was covered
with a white linen cloth and was
beautifully appointed with a silver j
coffee service and matching silver
candle holders. The centerpiece
was an arrangement of Cecil Brun
ncr Roses and white alyssum. Liv
ing room decorations were yellow
umbrellas with white daisies and
mock orange blossoms.
Marie Counts poured the coffee
and the lovely cake decorated with l
sweet peas was cut and served by i
Opal Hull. Jo Ann. Brinda and
Jesse Counts assisted with the
serving.
Miss Hull opened her many love
ly gifts. Appropriate games were
played and prizes were won by
Doreen Bratsch and Mildred Cos

TO HOLD OPEN-HOUSE
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Deal will
hold open house at their home Sun
day, June 29, from 2 to 5 in the
afternoon and from 7 to 9 p.m.
at 649 SE Flint, to honor their son
and his bride, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Deal, who are moving soon to Los
Angeles to reside. All friends are
most cordially invited.

iting and enjoying violin solos by
Miss Patricia Mayo, accompanied
by Miss Lois Harvie, who also ren
dered several piano solos.
The event was also a farewell
party as the Talbert family mov
ed Monday to Winston where Tal
berg, who has been principal of
Glide High School the past three
years, will be principal of Douglas
High this coming school year.
OAKLAND OES HAS
MEETING THURSDAY
Chapter 91, OES, Oakland, met
Thursday with Worthy Matron Bet
ty Early and Worthy Patron Harry
Smith presiding in the East.
Grand Chapter reports were giv
en by Olga Bielman, Irma Cor
nish and Harry Smith. The worthy
matron and patron gave short talks
and complimented the officers on
the fine work they have done. A
very clever addendum was given
in their honor at this, their last
meeting, concluding with the pres
entation of gifts from the officers.
Guests of the evening were Mar
tin Elam, worthy patron of Chapter
IBB, Oakridge and Mrs. Elam, both
of whom were honored injhe East.
Irma Cornish, grand representa
tive to the state of New Mexico in
Oregon, was also introduced and
honored.
Edna Campbell, president of the
Stellar Club, announced that there
will be no further meeting of the
club until September.
Refreshments were served fol
lowing the meeting.

ART AND EMBROIDERY CLUB
Mrs. Clarence Miller was host
ess to members of the Roseburg
Art and Embroidery Club at her
home at Winchester Wednesday aft
ernoon. A delicious potluck dinner
was served at 12:30. Sweet Wil
liam and roses formed the room
decorations.

afternoon visiting. Members- pres

Picnic Luncheon Held
One of the largest of annual
events in Roseburg took place Sat
urday, when tlie Douglas Forest
Protective Assn. held its annual
picnic luncheon at the station north
of Roseburg.
The long table was decorated
with early summer blossoms. A
large number of those attending
have been enjoying the event an
nually since it was started. Mr.
