HiJiinni Twice this season Puckett By BILL COULD Ntwt-Rtviaw Sports Writer The Joseph Lane Cindermen roll ed to wins in both the eighth grade and the seventh grade classes Sat urday in the second annual Doug las County Junior High track meet on the Roseburg High oval. For Joseph Lane, it was five firsts in the older division and 10 top ribbons in the seventh - grade class. With this supply of tallies, they won the younger division with 79 points, while in the eighth-grade test, their 48V points was good for the victory. ' In the eighth-grade action, the Sutherlin juniors look second with 37 and the Central Junior High team third with 33Vi. Rounding out the point totals in the eight-team test were Riddle with 22, Camas Valley with 11, Oakland with five, Myrtle Creek with four, while the Douglas juniors failed to score. In the seventh-grade class, the Central team grabbed second with 30 markers and was followed by Douglas with 26", Myrtle Creek with 10'4, Oakland with 10, Riddle with five and Camas Valley with two points. In this one, the Suther lin trackmen failed to score. Sutherlin Boy Stars It was Jim Trimmer of the Suth erlin club, who was the top point getter of the afternoon. Vieing in the eighth grade class. Trimmer took wins in the 330-yard dash, the 660 yard run and the broad jump. He also ran a leg on the winning 880-yard relay team, giv ing him a total of 19'i more than half his team's total. A double-winner in the older meet, was Ray Palm of Joseph I.ane, as he gained wins in the 110-yard hurdles and in the high jump. In the seventh-grade test there were three double winners, all from Joseph Lane. AI Ncal won the 1 .SO yard dash and the shot put. as well as e ond in the 75-yard dash. Paul Brown took first place ribbons in the broad jump and the 7.Vyard dash and a second in the 150 yard dash. Paul Brothers won the 70-1 yard hurdles and the pole vault. Since there were no records kept from the first get-together last year all the marks Saturday will go as meet standards.
