Driver Of Death Car
Charged With Homicide
THE DALLES. Ore. The
driver of a car that met another
head-on Jan. 9 in a collision that
caused three deaths was held in
the Waso County jail Wednesday
on a negligent homicide charge.
He is Jimmy Lee White. 26, of
Hood Kiver.
Those killed in the accident were
a father and son from Pullman,
Wash.. Charles T. Webb Jr.. 30,
and the son, Charles E. Webb.
Succumbing later lo injuries was
Mrs. Rondal Kich, 17, a passenger
in White's car.

CORVALLIS Fifty-nine
high school principals will come
to Oregon State College Feb. 15
to talk things over with former
students of Iheirs who now are
enrolled at OSC.
They will discuss the strong and
weak points in the training given
in their high schools as it is ap
plied to their college courses.
The principals, after their inter
views with the lormer students,
will then confer with college lead
ers to review the comments.
OSC officials said Monday that
the program, now in its sixth year,
has brought helpful changes in
high school college preparatory
work and in the OSC counseling
program.

Other Roads
had an accident rate of only .65
per 100 million miles of travel.
The rate on the old Pacific High
way between Salem and Oregon
City was 2 35, while it was 3.83
between Salem and Albany.
Crandall said, however, he isn't
satisfied with the freeway's death
rate of 2.8 per 100 million miles
of travel. On the Eastern turn
pikes, which are comparable to
the freeway, the death rate has
been about half that.

; He said he thinks the freeway
death rate will drop this year,
since the commission has elimi
nated one major death cause by
placing barriers between opposing
( lanes of traffic at the north end. j
! There have been 11 deaths on'
i the freeway since it was opened
; in 1954.

dents of Klamath Falls will be
asked to vole on May 16, on
whether they want to switch lo
the city manager-council form of
' government.
' The City Council adopted two
1 resolutions here this week, one pro
: posing the charter amendment to
pave the way for instituting the
manager-council form of govern
ment and the other to put the
charter change before the voters
of the city at the May primary
election.
A special committee, headed by
Murdo Morrison, local architect
i and former council member, has
been studying the city manager
! plan for several months.
