Winter Wheat Crop
Forecast At High Figure
WASHINGTON ( The Agri
culture Department forecast next
year's winter wheat crop at 906,
272.000 bushels Thursday.
This crop, which was seeded
during the past fall, compares
with 707.201.0(H) produced this year
and 862,471,000 for the ten-year
(1946-55) average.
It is being grown under rigid
federal marketing quotas and a
soil bank land retirement program
designed to hold down surplus pro
duction. No forecast was given for the
combined winter and spring wheat
crop r-o:! 'tion inasmuch as the
spring crop will not be planted
until next spring.
