LOOKINGGLASS CHURCH
Lookingglass Church will hold
a special business meeting Nov,
25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Looking
glass Community Church. Purpose
of the meeting is to draw up a
constitution and by-laws for the
church. All interested persons in
the community are welcome.
Mrs. James Briggi has been ill
the last few days at her home in
Hawthorne Terrace.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Campbell
were in Corvallii Saturday for the
football game.
Mrs. A. H. Jaeger left by plane
recently, bound for San Francisco
where she will visit her daughter,
Mrs. Margaret Montague, and
other relatives and friends
Mr. and Mrs. Henry D. Hess of
Medford were recent overnight
guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. R.
Bartlett of this city. The Hesses
had been called to Eugene by ill
ness in the family.
Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Taylor are
back at their home in Laurelwood,
following a trip to Menlo Park,
Calif., where they visited their son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Marcel, and family, Di
ane and Richard.
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Hanson and
daughter, Margie, have returned
home from a trip to Seattle to see
off the Hansons' sons, Glen and
Don, who are leaving on a six
month navy cruise. The latter two
were home visiting their parents
and all made the trip to Seattle
together. Both young men are in
the U.S. Navy and are stationed on
the USS Burton Island, navy ice
breaker which will go first to New
Zealand, then to Little America
as part of Operation Deepfreeze
III the Roseburgites stopped en
route home to visit Mrs. Henry
Albers at Albany. The latter's hus
band, the Rev. Henry Albers,
known to many in the Roseburg
area, died recently at his home
following a prolonged illiies.
Mrs. W. C. Callison has been ill
the last several days at her home
in this city.
Wtyrte Mother of this city was
in Corvallis Saturday to attend the
football game.
Mrs. Mary Doughton of this city
went to Corvallis Saturday to at
tend the football game and to visit
her son, Kerme, who is a student
at Oregon State College.
Bernle Hanson of Crescent City,
Calif., visited here at the Jack
Holmgren home as the guest of
Steven Holmgren. The tormer s
parents spent the weekend attend
ing the Shrine ceremonies here.
George Worrall has returned to
Roseburg to spend the winter
months with his son-in-iaw and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Hunter. Worrall has been staying
with another daughter, Mrs. May
Paul of Vancouver, B.C., who
made the trip down here with her
father and who spent a week visit
ing at the Hunter home before re
turning to Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Quine
and Mrs. Roy Catching are back
at their homes in Roseburg, follow
ina a tour of Europe with the Wil
liam Jelski tour in September and
October and then spending a
month in Italy visiting the Quines'
daughter, Mrs. Wallace Amason,
and family. They went to Europe
on the USS United States and re
turned from Italy on an Italian
ship. Mrs. Catching plans to go
next week to Areata, Calif, to
spend Thanksgiving with her son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Eugene McElroy, and children,
Collett, David and Linda.

Mr. and Mrs. Harl Kelley of this
city were in Corvallis Saturday for
the football game.
Miss Leola Loremen and Clark
Miller, students at University of
Oregon, spent Saturday in Rose
burg visiting the former's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Lorenzen.
Mr, and Mrs, Bill Sumner and
son, Robbie, of Eugene spent the
weekend in Roseburg visiting the
former's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
James E. Judd.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Thompson
have returned to their home in
Roseburg, following a two weeks
trip by United Airlines to Iowa,
where they attended to business
and visited in Albia and
DesMoines, prior to going to Chi
cago, where they spent three days.
While there they enjoyed the play,
"My Fair Lady."
R. W. Ayres, a resident of Rose
burg for a number of years and
brother-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Hor
ace C. Berg of this city, died sud
denly Monday at Pendleton, ac
cording to word received here. His
wife, Stella, a sister of Mrs. Berg,
died in 1950. He is survived by a
daughter, Virginia Bond, of Pen
dleton, and 4 grandchildren and 2
great-grandchildren.
