son Bros. Logging, was injured re
cently, when a falling limb struck
his right leg below his knee. He
was taken to Douglas Community
Hospital, but X-rays showed no
broken bones. He was treated for
body bruises and released.

othy McFarland, a teacher in Las
Vegas, Nev., also visited for sev

spend the winter here and attend
Melrose school. His home is in

nomination of William F. Quinn to
be governor Hawaii Tuesday. Ap
proval was unanimous.
The 38-year-old Navy combat
veteran, now a member of a Ho
nolulu law firm, will succeed Sam
uel Wilder King as head of the
territory if the Senate approves
the nomination.
Quinn is a graduate of St. Louis
University and Harvard Law
School,
Sen. Jackson (D-Wash) said
Quinn is "dedicated to Hawaiian
statehood."
Two former Harvard classmates
of Quinn, Reps. Porter (D-Ore)
and Coffin (D-Maine) spoke in his
behalf. Both said he would be an
outstanding governor of the territory.
