New Photo Classes Added;
Hobbies, Crafts Expanded
Three new classes have been
added to photoyinphy competition.
Tinted photographs will be enter
ed in both amateur and profes
sional sections in addition to the
usual black and white prints. Com
petition in colored 35 millimeter
slides for amateurs has been re
vived after two years without that
class.
A new manager for the hobby
department, Jack Church, has
been appointed by Dick Tuiley,
fair manager. This is a relatively
new department and from the in
terest shown so far, should easily
become the most popular. Almost
t very body has a hobby, reports
Church, and the Fair is a good
place to show off your hobby.

COPPER ON MARKET
LONDON JP Britain announced
Tuesday that 27, (KM) tons of copper
from the government stockpile
will be put on the market as an
economy move.
Classes have been greatly re
vised this year, to provide for bet
ter competition. A glassed-in ex
hibit case will be provided by the
'fair board for valuable or fragile
articles, so that the exhibitors need
not worry about their safely.
Douglas County craftsmen will
see many new features at the
fair, according to Mrs. Jack
West, general department superin
tendent. Increased space between
exhibits will allow people to bet
ter observe them. Increased light
ing will also help display them
more advantageously. The new
community building, which will
house the department aiin this
year, has been newly paijited and
landscaped.
Division heads under Mrs. West
are Mrs. Harry Brubaker, cera
mics; and Mrs. Frank Brown
miscellaneous arts. The superin
tendents noted that entries are
open to any Douglas County resi
dent. It is not necessary to belong
to a club to compete.
The fair will again feature a
school arts section. Elimination
contests were held at the schools
in the county this spring by the
school staffs. Top winners in each
class at the schools will be shown
; at the fair where they will com
i pete with exhibits from schools all
over the county. Most school
grades are judged alone.
