A LOVELY CEREMONY at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 6, united
in marriage Barbara Jaan Schliep, daughter of Mr and
Mrs. Paul M. Schliep, and Monte James Lewis, son of
Mr. and Mrs. James E. Lewis, all of Myr.tle Creek. The
Rev. Cyril Dorsett performed the double ring ceremony at
the Methodist Church in the presence of 60 guests. (Pic

Nuptial music was played by
Mrs. George Childress. The' church
was beautifully decorated with
ferns and pink and white gladio
la. The bride on the arm of her
father looked lovely in her bridal
gown of white lace and net. The
gown was ballerina length. She
wore a tiara with an elbow length
veil. She carried a bouquet of pink
roses and stephonitis tied with a
lace ribbon. The lace ribbon was
used on both her mother's and
grandmother's bridal bouquets.
Matron of honor, Mrs. David
Doud of Myrtle Creek, Wore a cor
al colored formal. She carried a
crescent shaped bouquet of coral
gladiola tied with a white ribbon.
David Doud was best man. Both
of the Douds were classmates of
the bride and bridegroom who
graduated from Myrtle Creek High
School in 1956.
Following the ceremony a re
ception was given for 60 guests bv
the bride's parents at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. James Lewis. Mrs.
Lydia Lewis cut the three-tiered
wedding cake decorated with pink

At Charming Shower
Mrs. J. M. Boyles was hostess
at one of the largest and most
charming shower parties of the
month, when she entertained for
bride-elect Carmen Ford, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ford,
who will become the bride this
summer of Kent Phillips, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Phillips. Airs.
Boyles was assisted by her daugh
ter. Miss Charlene.
The miscellaneous shower car
ried out the "Lovebird" motif in
all of the decorations, the gift table
and in the clever individual men
us. The refreshment table was cov
ered by a pale green organdy cloth
and centered with an arrange
ment of summer blossoms and
clever lovebirds. Green and white
were the predominate colors for
the party.
Beautiful gifts were presented
to the guest of honor from Mrs.
James Brown. Mrs. Cecil Ford,

MR. AND MRS. RAE HORTON, above, have just returned from a vacation trip to Mex
ico. They left Los Angeles by plane June 27 and arrived first in Maraland, famous
deep-sea fishing port. From there they went to Guadalapara ond then to Mexico City.
They enjoved excursion tours to both Toco and Cuernavaca. They stopped over in San

The couple went on a honeymoon
trip to Southern Oregon and Cali
fornia. They returned Julv 10 and
will reside in Tri City. The bride
is employed at the Pacific Finance
Loan office as cashier and the
bridegroom is self employed as a
farmer. Mr. Lewis graduated from
OTI this spring.

Mr. and Mrs. Nelson were mar
ried June 25, 1912 in Seattle, Wash,
and moved to Elgarose and later
to Roseburg. Thev have 8 chil
dren: Airs. O. W. Hall, Lloyd, Les
ter and Ed Nelson, of Roseburg;
Airs. Kay Prouty, Shclton,. Wash.;
Ivar Nelson, Sutherlin; Airs. Tom
AlcCowan, Lebanon and Pfc. Don
ald Nelson, Fort Ord. They have
23 grandchildren.

Two beautifully decorated birth
day cakes were cut and served
with other refreshments following
a social hour of games.

Orval Petersen Jr. and Richard
Petersen.
Bridge was enjoyed during the
pleasant evening hours with Mrs.
Jertson and Mr. Luoma winning
the high scores.
