'A civil action initiated in circuit
court, Roseburg, 1 by plaintiffs
James E. and W. Patricia Decker
has found the jury ruling for de
fendant Joseph Brant. All are Rose
burg residents.
The Deckers had charged Brant
sold them a log truck and trailer
Sept. 24, 1954, allegedly free of obli
gations except for $203. They claim
ed the defendant did not tell them
of a $1,283.03 mortgage held by
Earl D. and Buelah Sader.
Defendant Brant had denied
knowledge of the chattel mortgage
and denied promise of free title
or fraudulent intent.
The plaintiffs said they had paid
the Saders $1,283.03 plus interest
due on the mortgage on Nov. 10,
1955. They sought, that sum as a
first cause of action and $1,361.03
in the second cause. Had they re
covered in the first cause, they
sought a "double damage" action
