Installation Service
For New Asst. Pastor
An installation service will be
held for the Kev. John L. Slack,
new assistant pastor at the Church
of the Open Bible, this evening at
7:45 at the church, 1643 SE Jack
son in Roseburg.
The Rev. Mr. Slack was grad
uated from the Bible Standard In
stitute in Eugene, and will be serv
ing in all the church services with
the pastor, the Rev. G. C. Hender
son. He will also participate in the
church music department.
The assistant pastor will bring
his first sermon to the church
Thursday evening. The public is
invited to attend. A get acquainted
time will follow the service.
HOLD SPECIAL CONCERT
, The Mason Swiss Bell Ringers
stopped in Canyonville after pre
senting two concerts in Roseburg
and gave a special concert at the
Bible academy there.
Other schools in the community
were invited to attend the assem
bly. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shaffer
of Canyonville arranged for the
special concert. The Rev. ana- Mrs.
Benard Mason require four hours
to set up their instruments.

the subject, "Christian's Obliga
tions In Tne worm Today," neiore

cently. Mrs. Tilton stated that one of
the most important social changes
since the turn of the century has
been the decline of the white man s
superiority, and the rising import
ance of men of colored skins.

Clifford Bryden, president, an
nounced that women sent to the
teacher training workshop at Lew
is and Clarke College this summer
would report on their activities
there during the October guild
meeting.
At the close of the meeting re

group by hostesses Mrs. Clifford
Norris, Mrs. Robert Beardsley,
Mrs. Laurence Wallace and Mrs.
Lloyd Myers.
The next meeting of the group
will be held Oct. 2 at the church.

The second meeting of the newly
organized Methodist Men's Club
was held in the recreation room of
the Yoncalla Methodist Church last

Missionaries Club .
Plans First Project
The Missioncttes Club of the
First Assembly of God Church
met Thursday with Carolyn Allen
being elected counsellor and Mrs.
Vernon Kelmin as advisor. This
club was formed to help in mis
sionary projects and will meet
twice a month. All girls between
12 and 17 are invited. The first
projects is to make bean bags,
which will serve as gifts for the
missionaries to give out.
