Horse Classes
Back In Agenda
One of the most popular events
of the fair will be re-opened this
year, states fair Manager Dick
Turley. ,
The horse department, closed
last year because of inadequate
space for entries, will be activated
again, with a new superintendent
at the helm. Recently appointed to
the post, Yoncalla rancher Gordon
Baker has worked out classes and
rules, ajid announces' that there is
a place for "most any horse" at
the fair.
The show was discontinued for
one year to enable the Fair Board
to complete additional horse barns.
The barns have had to wait on oth
er improvements, but the horse
department will try to fit into the
existing space, according to Baker.
Judging of the performance
classes in this division will be held
in front of the grandstand on
Thursday afternoon of the Fair,
states Baker. This judging is open
to the public, and a free event.
Judging will be done by Howard
Wirtz, Grants Pass horseman.
Prize money for the horse classes
have been almost doubled this year,
which should bring out the top money.
