Sandra Shugart is the eleven
year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Vance P. Shugart. She attended
Fullerton School last year.
Brooke Young is the eleven year
old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ber
nard Young. She also attended Ful
lerton School.
The recital was given at Miss
Strong's home on South East Main
Street. Families and friends of the
girls were invited. Refreshments
were served at the close of the
program.

The Riversdale Happy Hour Club
met Wednesday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. Ernest Trussell. A
delicious dessert luncheon was
served. A short business meeting

Grants Pass Man Now Manager
Of Service Station In Glendale

Adrian J. Fuller of Grants Pass
has become new manager of the
Golden Eagle Gasoline Station on
Pacific Avenue and fllolly Street,
opposite the Glendale Grade
School. Transfer was completed
July 10. Bill Allen of Glendale
was the former manager, ruuer
states that policies will continue as
before except that he 'will service
trucks as well as passenger cars.
Fuller is well-known in Glendale,
having worked in the logging in
dustry here.
New Police Car
The Glendale Police department
took recent delivery of a new
cream-white police car. It was put
into service on the following day,
July 14. The old car is being trad
ed in on the new one.

Oakland Council Votes
To Pave Second Street .
Street paving was the moin item
of business before the' Oakland
city council meeting this week.
The council let the paving con
tract for Second street from Lo
cust to Maple to Roseburg Paving
Co. It was also reported that pav
ing on Fifth street from Oak to
the high school will be underway
soon, according to News-Review
correspondent Edith Dunn.
The council also discussed the
installation of a sidewalk on First
Street from Walnut to Chestnut.
Progress was reported on the new
access road to Highway 99 on
Stearns avenue.
The city recorder's book will be
audited by Young. Walpole and
Co. The council was also inform
ed that a slide for the City Park
playground has been ordered and
will arrive soon.

Brisbin Children In Riversdale

brought their children, Cheryl, San
dy and Janice Alarie, to stay with
his mother, Airs. Charles Hahn,
while he flew Airs. Brisbin to Van
couver, B. C, Canada, in his two
place -plane. She visited twelve
days with a girlhood friend, Airs.
Agnes Bell. Airs. Brisbin and Airs.
Bell both- lived in Glasgow, Scot
land, and had not seen each other
for ten years, when Airs. Brisbin
moved to the United States with
her husband. Later Airs. Bell mov
ed with her husband to Canada.
Brisbin returned to Vancouver aft
er a week and visited a few days.
The couple then returned to Rose-,
burg by plane.

attending. Mrs. Margaret Ware of

fourth grades for the coming year,

Chester Bast is now recuperat
ing at his home in Dillard from
major surgery on his back which
he underwent at the Sacred Heart
Hospital in Eugene. He was hos
pitalized for ten days.

Plans Fun Night
The Oakland Community Church
will hold a "fun-fest" at the Oak
land City Playground beginning at
4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28.
The high school band will be un
able to play for the fete as was
previously announced. Square
dancing is planned on the pave
ment near the park.

ing donations for this event from
the present time until the day of
the fete.

will sponsor a cake walk- at the
"Fun Fest," which will be given

Meet At Stefferud Home

The group played croquet out of

discussion was held on the Walth

ton near Oregon City Saturday
and Sunday, Sept. 8 and 9. The
Timber Days float project was
discussed and it was decided to
enter one with the church. After
the meeting refreshments were
served to the 13 members present.

will be an ice cream social with all

Public Meeting Slated
For Sanitary District
An important Green Sanitary
District public meeting has been
scheduled for Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. at
the Green School, according to
Clerk Airs. Orpha Rutan.
At the meeting remonstrances
will be heard and boundaries of
the improvement areas within the
district will be set, Airs. Rutan
said.
