William Hanson Home

Bob Slarslers has purchased the
William Hanson residence in South
Oakland. It will be occupied by
Jlarsters and his mother.
The Hansons, formerly with the
Texaco Service Station, are mov
ing to Jioquiani, Wash.
Mr. and Mrs. Mel Davis and
children spent the weekend with
Mrs. Davis' parents. Mr. and Mrs.
L. H. Cook at Gold Hill. They
also visited her grandmother who
is ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burpee spent
Ihe weekend with relatives at Yre
ka. Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nelson are
moving to Medford.
Mrs. Hunter Early is now em
ployed part time at the Oakland
Post Office.

Giles Ashman have arrived in
Roseburg, following the former's
discharge from the 6lh Army aft
er three years of service. Ashman
was stationed as a corporal at Pet
aluma, Calif. Prior to entering the
service, he was with the state
highway surveying crew. He is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Giles Ash
man of this city.

Wimberly has returned to his home
on SE Lane Street, Roseburg, fol
lowing a trip to San Diego and
Los Angeles, where he visited rel
atives and friends, and to Berkeley
to visit his son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Donald C. Wim
berly, and children, Donald and
Jane Ann.
Visiting In Saltm Mr. and
Mrs. J. R. Wharton of Roseburg
spent the weekend in Salem visit
ing their son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Wharton.

ton Hughes, who underwent ma
jor surgery at St. Vincent's Hospi
tal in Portland several weeks ago,
has been discharged and is now
convalescing satisfactorily at her
home on SE Main Street.

mother's illness.

Mri. Roy Waodall returned home
recently from a week's vacation
in San Francisco where she visited
her sister, Marty Thomas, former
ly of Roseburg.
While there she attended the
wedding of Martha Thomas who
was married to Earl Neilsen. She
was also the houseguest of Mrs.
Carol Pon, formerly of Roseburg.
Mrs. Woodal! visited her cousins,
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Stevensen in
San Jose. She made the trip in
company with her aunt and uncle,
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Williams of Sulh
erlin. Have Houieguest
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Woodal! had
for their houseguest last week,
Mrs. David Woodall of Escondida,
Calif.

weeks visiting her son-in-law and

anniversary next Tuesday.
He suggested that schools give
recognition to the day.
Oregon sometimes is called the
Valentine slate because the bill
granting statehood was signed by

1859. The news didn't reach Oregon
until a month later.
