Has done tier l.nnstmas shopping
the year round and had all the!
packages wrapped and tied weeks
ago.
"But is any woman ever pre
pared for Christmas?" her social
secretary, Mrs. Mary Jane Mc
Caffree, asked rhetorically Tues
day. The Eisenhower plans for Christ
mas still are not finalized, as they
say in government circles, be
cause of the question of arrival of
a fourth grandchild. Maj. and Mrs.
John Eisenhower expect the baby
around the first of the year.
At any rate. Christmas will be
in the White House for the first
time since Dwight D. Eisenhower
became President. And there'll be
the excitement of children skipping
around the mansion. They are the
presidential grandchildren David,
7; Barbara Anne, 6, and Susan, go
in? on 4.
The family tree is upstairs in
the west hall of the White House,
used as a sitting room by the Ei
senhowers. Downstairs in the for
mal East Room is the traditional
ceiling-high tree.
The Eisenhowers plan to return
to Washington Wednesday. Some
time before Christmas they will
give the traditional reception for
the White House staff.
Christmas dinner will be a fam
ily affair. Their son and daughter-
in-law, tt she is able, will be there. of Denver and sister, Mrs. George
along with Mrs. Eisenhower s Gordon Moore of Washington and
mother, Mrs. John Sheldon Doud her two daughters.

EMOTION PACKED REUNION Overcome by emotion,
former German prisoner of war Fritz Morten and his
sister, Margarette, break down in tears as they meet in
Friedland, Germany. Merten, one of 600 former German
soldiers freed by the Russians, hadn't seen his sister since
1935. Sadness marred his homecoming. His wife, who
hadn't heard from him, had declared him dead in 1949
and remarried. The 600 war prisoners were the first re
leased by Russia since repatriations suddenly stopped in
October.
Mother Of Four Bocks Testimony
WEATHKRFORD, Tex. - The
mother of four children has
backed up the accusation of her
husband, charged with killing their
former family pastor, that the
minister 'committed adultery with
my wife.'
Mrs. Walter Vaughn of Denver
City, Tex., told a reporter that
the Rev. Chester Stevens "made
his way into my home under the
pretense of help as my pastor. U
was just pretense. It wasn't for
the purpose of doing good."
Her husband, a slightly bald,
thin man of 47, was charged here
last night with firing six shots that
instantly killed the Baptist minis
ter in the front yard of the latier's 1
home Saturday. A bond hearing!
for him was set for today. I
Vaughn, looking tired and grief!
stricken, told reporters: !
"Why, he came into my house
under false pretenses and he com- i
mitted adultery with my wife. . . 1
My wife told me . . .Learned about
it in iSovemner . . . i trusted him
completely."
Asked about her husband's state
ment that the minister came to
the Vaughn residence for the pur
pose of committing adultery and
did commit it, Mrs. Vaughn said
"yes, it was true."
Iiic Vaughns were members of
the Denver City Baptist Church
where Rev. Stevens was pastor un
til two months ago when he be
came pastor of the Harmony Bap
tist Church near here.
