    Umpqua HEU Enjoys
Christmas Exchange
The Umpqua Home Extension
Unit met at the Calapooia Club
house for its December meeting,
which was instruction in copper
tooling. Grace Crouch and Mildred
Burpee, who had taken previous
training in the work, gave the in
structions. Later in the day a Christmas
gift exchange was enjoyed by nine
members. The door prize was
won by Virginia La Motte.

To Visit With President

when the President returns to his
farm home there after a trip south.
The boy's mother told excitedly
Monday night of a telephone call
from tli President thanking young
Lincoln and his parents for a gin
gerbread house which Tommy left
with a secret service agent Sunday
when the Lincolns tried to visit the
President's farm.
.Monday they received a call
from the President himself, said
.Mrs. Lincoln. He talked to Tommy
first, thanking him for his gilt and
then invited Mrs. Lincoln to bring
her family for a visit, she said.

wedding of their niece, Mary Lou
; Teague, and Pierre Van Hyssel-
berge. The Teagues' daughter,
iJayne, who is a student at Oregon
: State College, was one of the
bridesmaids. Miss Jayne arrived
! in Hoseburg Tuesday to spend the
I holidays with her parents on SK

a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, will
receive additional training in the
