the past week. Her condition is
improved, but she will have to re

Wanda Miller, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Miller, is also on
the sick list with a strep throat
which will keep her 'from school

they attended the funeral of Clyde
Sherley. Mr. and Mrs. Warren
Sherley and daughter went to Port
land Wednesday due to the death
of Sherley's brother, Clyde.

Snider spent the weekend in Port
land and Vancouver, Wash.
Mrs. Oscar Butler and baby re
turned home last week after spend
ing a month visiting relatives in

Ark., and Kansas City, Mo
Mr, and Mrs. Gus Calhoon an
nounce the arrival of a daughter
born Oct. 12, at the Cottage Grove
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Collins and
son, Gene, and Miss Pat Monn,
returned home last week from an
unsuccessful deer hunting trip to
Eastern Oregon.
Visitors at the Ray Morin home
over the weekend were Mr. and
Mrs. Melvin Boettcher and family
of West Linn.
Mrs. Henry Hubbell is visiting
her daughter and family, Mr. and
Mrs. James Madden in Medford
for a week.
Fred Sefton underwent a major
operation on his throat at Sacred
Heart Hospital, Eugene, Friday,
Mrs. Sefton is staying in Eugene
to be close to her husband.
Henry McDougall left Friday for
Bend. Saturday his daughter will
take him to Vale, where he will
visit his sister for two weeks. t
Mrs. Akin Stoekstadt and two
sons have spent the past 5 years
in Florida while her husband, Lt.
Stoekstadt, was with the U.S. Air
Force. Mrs. Stoekstadt and two
sons will spend three weeks here
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al
ton Stock, while their new home
is being made ready for occupan
cy. Mrs. Stoekstadt was the for
mer Bonny Stock, who attended
high school here for a couple of
years.

Frank Hunter left Tuesday for
his Los Angeles home following a
summer's stay with his brother-in-law

Ryther. The latter couple's son,
Tom Ryther, is spending a 30-day
sick leave with his parents, from
his work with Capitol Airlines in
Baltimore, Md. He is employed as

Challenges Other
Units To Contest
The Riverside PTA members
have challenged other PTA units
to a contest to provide blood do
nors at the next visit of the Red
Cross Bloodmobile Nov. 2, from
3 to 7 p.m., and Nov. 3, from
tO a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Elks
Ballroom. Mrs. Walt Brittell was
present at the recent meeting of
Riverside PTA, and urged all pos
sible to give blood.
The meeting was opened by
Mrs. John Heater, president. The
flag salute was led by Boy Scout
Sonja Roper of troop 1"3.

vice president, and Mrs. Kenneth
Ladd, treasurer, will be held Nov.

United Nations Program
Subject For Crangers
Fair Oaks Grange met Tuesday
evening for a regular business
meeting with 24 members and 10
children present.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thomas, re
ceived the third and fourth Grange
degrees.
The program for the evening was
on United Nations Day, with a
guessing game.
Hosts, Mr. and Mrs. John Mur
phy and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tre
man, served refreshments at the
close of the evening. They will also
be hosts for the potluck dupper
meeting Nov. 25.

School Open House Nov. 7
In recognition of American Edu
cation Week, the Camas Valley
elementary school has scheduled
an open house Monday Nov. 7. The
open house will cancel the regular
Parent-Teacher Assn. meeting that
