ple of Bloxwich, England, told
swimming pool manager Bit! Pick
eting recently on the Dover side of
the English Channel.
So he did.
The next morning 14 hours
and 6 minutes later he walked
out of the water on the French
side.
Big Bill, a 32-year-old, 252-pound-er,
said he was making the swim
"simply to satisfy the people of
Bloxwich." His hometown raised
350 pounds ($980) for his expenses.

clairvoyance and other psychic

error or deliberate fraud.
Dr. George It. Price, research
associate at the university, writes
in Science Magazine that he will
doubt their claims until there has
been "just one experiment that
does not have to be accepted on a
basis of faith in human honestv."
Writing in the publication of the
American Assn. for the Advance
ment of Science, Price said the
only acceptable explanations for
experiments in psychic phenomena
are "clerical and stitistical errors
and unintentional use of sensory
cl"es" or "deliberate fraud or
mildly abnormal mental conditions."
