Andrews Accuses Federal Judges

drews, internal revenue commis
sioner, has accused the nation's
federal judges of breaking down
law enforcement by being too soft
on sentencing tax evaders, the
Globe - Democrat reported to
dav. Edward O'Brien of the Olobe
Democrat, reporting from Wash
ington on an interview with An
drews, said the commissioner also
disclosed he doesn't intend to sin
gle out racketeers for tax prose
cution when the "primary crime"
is violation of state or local laws.
O'Brien said Andrews told him
the federal judges are "doing
more to break down law enforce
ment in this country than all the
racketeers."

first experimental solar reactor,!
shaped like a shallow rice bowl
turned in a sizzling 2,000-degree
centigrade (3,632 fahrenheit) per-,
formance in its firot test Friday.
The rough-surfaced reflector,
which soaks up the sun's rays,

be capable of utilizing solar heat
for industrial use.
The model, measuring 6"-i feet
in diameter and about 23 inches
deep, was built at a cost of $28,000.
The reactor is expected to produce
temperatures as high as 5,000 de
grees centigrade (9,023 fahren-

start next week.

tory plans to construct a reflector
measuring nearly 10 feet across
and eventually a giant model meas
uring 32 feet, capable of harness
ing solar heat for industrial uses.

members, Fred Warde Llewellyn,
died Monday at Walter Reed Army
Medical Center after a long illness.
He was 17,
Llewellyn, a native of Hillsboro,
Ore., had practiced law here since
1943 stwn he retired from the
Army after serving two years as
assistant judge advocate general.
He was among the small group
of Army men who met in Paris
after World War I and founded the
Legion,
