Drive To Bay

Move To New Home
Mr. and Mrs. Hal Ray moved
Friday from the Douglas County
Lumber camp at Rock Creek to
Washougal, Wash., where they
purchased a new home.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Crandall
and daughter, Lorna, arrived Sun
day to spend a week at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Oaniclson.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Stumpf and twe
children moved their 45-foot trail
er house from Roseburg to the
North Umpqua Trailer Court.
Stumpf is employed at the Holm
Bros mill.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Cunningham
of Springfield spent Saturday vis
iting friends in the community.
The Cunninghams resided in Glide
for a year and a half, movmg
when the Saxton Construction Co.

Mason who moved here from Mo

Lee Walker of Harrlsburg spent
the weekend at tbe Lloyd Gilbert
home. Bob Gilbert returned with
him to visit until Wednesday when
Mrs. Gilbert will pick up her son
to take him to the Good Samaritan
Hospital to have the stitches re
moved from an operation per
formed on hi right leg.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nichols ac
companied by Kenny Moss spent
the weekend camping and fishing
at Four Mile Lake in Klamath
County. The party returned with
the limit of Blucback trout.

This is the first tine the insect.
"Miris Dolobratus," hat been
found west of the Mississippi. The
pest was found in Clackamas grass
seed fields by a research team
investigating heavy infestations of
silvcrtop.
The experiment station reported
that' it it too late to try control
measures this year, but that con
trol will be developed for 1956.

Richard, who has spent the last
two years in Alaska. Richard will
leave soon to attend school in

Accountants Move
To Lehman Building
The former Young, Montgomery
& Co. of Roseburg has changed
bolh its name and quarters.
The company, now known as
Young, Walpole & Co. has moved
from its office in the Pacific Build
ing to new quarters in the Lehman
Building at 404 N. Jackson St.
The new office for the certified
public accountants was formerly
occupied hy Roseburg Memorial
Gardens and Cary and Cary In
vestments. The two owners of the firm, Leo
Young and Marvin E. Walppole,
report the move was made neces
sary by expanding business.

Commission Chairman Ray Smith
He reported receipts for the fiscal
years 1053-55 totalled $56,822,294,
compared with $56,334, K3 for 1951-
53.
Personal income taxes accounted
for $42,798,459 during the two years
just past compared witn $41,522,
927 paid in the fiscal years 1951-53
Corporate excise tax receiots fell
slightly below the previous hien

Due Soon From Japan
Cpl. Richard I. Romesmo, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Earl T. Powers,
Drain, Is scheduled to fly in this
month from Japan to Fort Bragg,
N. C, on rotation.
Romesmo. a mail clerk, entered
the Army in November 1952. He
has been overseas since December
1954.
He was graduated from Elkton
High School in 1951.
