The department said farm prices
were 1.6 per cent below a year ago
and 21 per cent below the record
high set in February, 1931.
Prices paid by farmers for com
modities and services used in farm
production and in family living
averaged the same as a month
ago and as a year ago. But they
were 2.7 per cent below the record
high set in May, 1932.
Farm prices as a whole aver
aged 86 per cent of parity in mid
June, compared with 87 per cent
in mid-May, 88 per cent in mid
June last year end the record high
of 123 per cent set in mid-October,
1946.

Potato, Grain Crops
Are Damaged By Frost
KLAMATH FALLS W) Potato
and grain crops in the Klamath
Basin were severely da ma cod bv
frost Wednesday morning when
temperatures fell as low as 19
degrees.
Walt Jendrzejewski, Klamath
County extension agent, reported
that late potato plantings in the
Tulelake, Calif, area were hardest
hit and that many fields were
completely blackened. Heavy dam
age was also reported to grass
seed, grain and clover crops.
Don Jenott, Forest Service
ranger at Mt. Hebron, Calif., re
ported a temperature of 19 degrees.
Unofficial reading at Tulelake was
22 degrees, and the Tulelake Ex
periment station recoraea 2b.
