strictly local organization.
Mrs Mildred Perry, a district
school official, was-the next wit
ness. She complained about budget
cuts.
"I guess it's your own fault,"
Langer said. "You never come to
see us about it.
Mrs. Perry said that would be
improper, that law forbids individ
ual appropriation requests.

The Eagle ceased publication
last Jan. 29 following a strike over
wages by the CIO American News
paper Guild. Members of mechani
cal craft unions refused to cross

usiness department workers.
During Wednesday's sale $8,000
was the highest bid for the name,
goodwill, circulation lists and clip
pings of the Eagle. The auctioneer
had asked $100,000. The bid was
reiected.
The Eagle had a dally circulation
of 130,000 and l6S,ooo on Sunday,
