Bridges' Wife Granted Divorce

wit granted a divorce Thursaty
from Harry Bridges, West Coast
longshore union leader.
Mrs. Bridges charged mental
cruelty, claiming her . husband
worked too much, and often was
away from home. She also charged
him with being cool and indiffer
ent. . She was granted custody of a
son, Robert Alfred, 8, and awara
ed $200 a month child support A
property settlement, previously
made in California, was accept
ed by the, court. Its terms were
not revealed.
The couple was married in San
Francisco Sept. 27, 194b.
Bridges is president of (he In
ternational Longshoremen's and
Warehousemen's Union. A civil
suit is pending against him by the
United States government which
seeks to revoke his U.S. citizen
ship' on grounds that he fraudu
lently denied he ever was a Com
munist. Bridges was born in Australia.
